Edited by: Ga''len on 03/08/2007 13:03:50 Over the past 2 months, I have noticed, as everyone he has, that the EVE Online servers seem to be plagued with some serious stability issues.
This issue becomes even more frustrating when your ISP has issues.
The point of this thread is not to complain about problems but rather to try to eliminate at least some of the issue. I work in the IT industry and I have a number of fellow techie friends at various ISP's in the US. We all chat on a regular basis and last night, our chat was interesting in that we all concluded that we are seeing connection outage patterns that just seem too predictable and/or repeatable.
Example, one of my friends works for Earthlink and they are seeing many complaints of people having connection hiccups or outages when playing WoW while all other internet traffic is fine. Another friend who works for Comcast is receiving many complaints that EVE Online players are having similar connection problems, but practically no reports of issues from WoW players. AT&T seems to be in the same boat, except EVE Online and WoW players are having issues, but games from SOE seems to have drastically fewer complaints.
So, that being said, we have all decided to gather some information and see if what we are thinking is going on is in fact the issue. This leads to the whole purpose of this thread and I need your help. If you could, reply to this post, I am looking to gather the the following information:
- Your location (city and state will be fine)
- Who is your current ISP
- Your type of internet connection (Cable/DSL/Dialup/etc...
- Time and date of the connection problem
- Type of connection problem (minor hiccup or connection outage)
With your help, hopefully, we will be able to determine if there is something going on or we are all just overworked, underpaid network techs.

I am in Thailand so probably wont fit in with your gathered data, but it will show that the problem is world wide and not just confined to the US
Note i copy pasted 4 and five as the symptoms are identical.
I Southern Thailand
II TOT (state run)
III Adsl 1024
IV. Started around the time of Rev II patch, intermittent problems since...no particular dates to give
v. Connection with server hangs - character goes offline according to server, client stays connected till I interact with the server in some fashion, then loses connection and reboots. both accounts at the same time one PC I have a ping to the server at all times which helps somewhat. It shows a complete broken connection for about 5 pings.
other less sensitive connections such as browser etc still work but the eve forums are inaccessible. sometimes the break in connection lasts several minutes. ---------- Gallente and Minmater Faction standings transfer service, fast and efficient service, Eve-mail for info, 1 ready made corp available now. |

I haven't had stability issues myself, but anything that goes towards solving them is a great thing. Any chance of a sticky on this, mods? ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

Not from US, but with the risk of screwing up your data, I'll post since I have this problem since a few weeks (not exactly sure) and it's damn annoying.
# Budapest, Hungary
# Enternet
# ADSL
# Once or twice a day, randomly.
# Eve loses connection (both my clients if I'm logged with 2). Other connections seem fine (TS sometimes also loses connection, not always). My ventrillo stays connected (Hungarian server). I can log back immediately, happens just for a second or so.
I have failed to convince my ISP, they keep saying everything is fine since my connection is up since a long time (I don't lose my ppp connection so that is obviously right). But this was happening past few weeks and never before during the past 3 years I've been playing Eve through this ISP. Extremely annoying. If anyone has any idea what can I check / how could I prove this, would be nice. :)

Edited by: Allieynne on 06/08/2007 23:17:23 Thanks for your help, it's really appreciated. The details you requested are as follows:
Location: Canterbury, United Kingdom ISP: ICUK Connection type: 2 MB ADSL Time of connection issue: Ironically now! Please see date and time stamp of post. Error: I can access the forum here, but can't log into the game. Accessing other areas of the web are intermitant at best. For example I can't access either google or news.bbc.co.uk right now either. Other web sites such as Ask seem to be ok. Very odd.
I hope this helps.

1. Ottawa, Canada 2. Rogers 3. Cable 4. Various DC's, usually both accounts on same PC, but sometimes just one account at a time. Started just recently. Happening now, but also the website was unreachable for a while just now as well. 5. Whoops, see above
Really frustrating, since it had been rock solid for a year, for the most part. Now, I'm afraid to do anything :(

Durham, NC Time Warner Cable Roadrunner Cable Today! And almost every weekend. Disconnects, which cause warpouts/lost drones. Frequent server outages on weekends.. but I'm sure that's probably not TWC's fault.

i dont think my isp is to blame. the isp that i have is exelent in preformence, stability and costumer service.
but i do encounter these disconections from time to time but when u have 2 acounts and 1 crashes every 5 min while attacking a pos u start to wonder what the problem is. and i just think the eve server sometimes times out on conections of a node. this has nothing to do with my isp :) |
