bs vs elite frigate will be a dead elite frigate in most cases...
Drones, fof cruise and smartbombs kill friggies. Even if they got 2x more hp and more slots, so soloing a bs wont be possible (a coordinated group will do nicely), also note these elite frigates kinda suck, sicne they are based on tier2 ships, and not tier3 (I want a gunship rifter and not an interceptor). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

Only interceptors won't be really useful agianst battleships, I think. But when we get gunships and bombers I suppose a well composed team can be dangerous.

And since the purpose of battleships having many drones is to defend themself against small scale frigate attacks... WTF is your point?

the interceptor skill reduces signature radius. Each interceptor has a ship bonus of reduced signature radius. On top of that i think they have low signature radii anyway- the point is if a battleship takes about 20 seconds anyway to lock onto u with all trained up it should take ages- and in that time your group of 7 interceptors can pwn them

Especially as some of the interceptors have 3 missile bays. A small group of em could do a fair bit of damage to a battleships shields if theyre lucky before the battleship can even lock on.
They start with a pretty low signature radius which can be halved with level 5 of interceptor. For someone without good skills in reducing lock on time or the relevant modules you could be talking quite a bit of time.

True, FoF dont need lock-on, but they do need to catch them, and given the speed of the interceptors that might be quite hard.

not to mention the bs needs a launcher to fire them. a lone bs with no launchers will potentially be a great target for these ships

The missing cargo stats were noticed and then confirmed by someone on Chaos to be the same amount as the ships they are based on. It doesn't show until you actually have a ship assembled and active. |

I've only really looked at the Amarr ones but they have less grid than a punisher but more high slots which sucks. They look nice and fast but could a small turret keep up with passing a target at mwd speed with one of these? More hp is nice but it just means you'll last a few more seconds vs drones. I think they'll have their uses but not pvp vs Battleships

My drones auto attack anythign that hits my ship when there deployed so u don't "need" to target them for the drones2 start attacking, a coordinated attack by allmy drones on 1 ship requires that i have it targeted else they just fire at will

Whats with the no good at 1v1 with a BS???
They are not even out and in use, yet they have been brushed off as useless. They will be there to add an extra dimention to the use of frigates and give frigate pilots a new toy to play with.
Really there can be no good or bad points to them until we have the first flights. But I for one look forward to trying them out. -----------------------------

Incerceptors vs Battleships?!
Interceptors will be a role specific vehicle in eve.
Isn't the role of an interceptor to take out bombers and the like? Or to act as a screen for incoming bombers in a larger fleet?
I don't think -anyone- intends Interceptors, the low end of the tech II ship scale to be used as -anti battleship- vehicles.
These engage in dogfights, dodging missiles, picking off bombers and help take out EW cruisers and frigates - counter to the Vigil, Griffon, and other support vehicles.
Look to the Bombers (and in multiples) to down battleships. Look to cruisers and interceptors to screen your battleships against bombers.
Thing is, with their speed and low signature, they'll probably also be the premier scouts, able to 'take a look' and warp out/jump before they're locked by a camping force. Dangerous game, but cheaper than risking a cruiser, and more likely to survive than a cheaper vessel.
For most looking to pilot a better BS or cruiser, investment of the skillpoints into interceptors -is- a waste of time, unless the tech II cruisers etc, are more than a year off, which I hope not and highly doubt. Look to fighterpilot specialists to man these babies, and expect them to do all kinds of crazy things once they've mastered the ins and outs of this class.
Fragile, insanely fast, agile, and difficult to hit fightercraft. Its all good.

I just don't see it. Aside from the few special purpose ones (cloak, long range scanner, warp-to-item-on-scanner, and the Manticore that gives 6 missile slots) I can't find anything in the elite frigate class that is any more useful overall than what's currently there except in a frigate vs frigate fight.
I mean seriously, the same heavy drones frigate pilots fear now will eat elite frigates too. The same "One hit from a goo battleship gun and it's over" thing applies to elite frigates, too.
Think about it. Frigate piloting skills are what, rank 2? And Evasive maneuvering is also rank 2. The Interceptor skill, according tot he latest graphical skill tree, I believe, requires Frigate 5 and Evasive 5, and Navigation 5, and you need spaceship command 2 to get evasive maneuvering, so we're talking about 1,281,414 skill points, NOT counting the Interceptor skill, just to fly a FRIGATE.
Let me say that again. It takes at the very least 1,281,414 skill points to reach the level where you can fly an elite frigate.
I do believe one can reach the ability to pilot battleships with significantly fewer skill points. Seriously, for the amount of time invested in getting there, it seems apparent to me that one should expect to be able to pilot something SIGNIFICANTLY better than what the interceptor class appears to be.

I hope so. My prediction, however, is that except for those taking advantage of the few "special" powers of these ships, a few days after they come out they will have had their 15 minutes of fame and people will go back to flying cruisers and battleships.

Considering the fact that a cruiser already has alot of problems taking on a frig (with the exception of the thorax or any other high drone space cruiser), an elite frigate will eat cruisers... Sure bs's are a nono solo, but in a group of 3 or 4 vs 1 bs should mean a dead bs ... -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

I've heard this argument many times. The thing is how ever, many people have thous prereq skills already as they are quit useful on their own. I had them all before I even saw the prereqs of these Interceptors (except the interceptor skill ofcours). So this point is kind of irelevant, at least to me. |

Hmm, they all have a Race bonus, but how do they work? Is it like.. all Amarrians get the 25% bonus on the crusader & malediction and the other races won't, or is it just a roleplay thing? like: the amarrians are good at using/making lasers therefore this frig pwns with them. (but the pilots race doesnt matter)
I would like to know, since the crusader interceptor seems well nice , with 4 lasers and 4 low slots, but im not an amarrian

Race bonus in this case merely means race that made the ship/prerequisite skill needed to fly it. YOUR race shouldn't affect flying it at all, except what skills you've invested in for roleplay/storyline purposes.
At the core of it, the eve races are all human, merely seperated for a few thousand years. An Armenian properly trained doesn't have anymore difficulty with Chinese controls if he's perfectly fluent with the language.
Now a Kalahari Bushman might have trouble manning a Swedish tank due to scale of the seating and all that, but as far as I know, giantism/dwarfism isn't part of the racial drift of the eve-races. Even then, it only takes a minor retooling, or even just seat adjustments.
In eve, all pods are tailored anyway to the individual pilot.

Thanks, thats what i wanted to hear :D. I thought it might have been race specific cause some people have been moaning that its too easy to just jump in any ship u like but tbh, im glad its not that way :P.

Iteron V also requires 1 milion SP. And it gives you just more cargo - that is exactly what i expect from any industrial. Same for frigate - it should be fast, hard to lock, nimble. And that what I will get for my 1 million SP. Deadly is a word for Battleship. Multi-purpose is a word for cruiser (probably 8) ) .
