I just wonder, I've practically just whoooshed past some camped gates in frigates ranging from a Probe to an Incursus at the most my Probe lost its shields, 2/3 armor and 20% structure and some times it only lost 20% or so shields. Is frigates the way to go when trying to run blockades? Seems like the big guns have a hard(er) time tracking them and hitting?

most of the times, frigates are one shot one kill, but every once in a while you run across some noobs who can't hit anything. i think that frigates are awesome in their class - fast and agile. O_o |

My vigil with MWD and two ABs gets through any blockade without problem, don't think anyone has even managed a lock before im at the gate. So yes frigates are good for running blockades (which is why pirates will kill any they can catch, because ppl will sneak bps and megacyte in them) ______________

just have someone with a fast lock sit rigth on top of the gate and jump trough before the frig and get him on the other side ----------------------------------------------- Life is like a long poo that you have to take a bite of every day |

But on the other side usually, for me atleast, is a 0.5 or higher secrating and thus is relatively more safe :-)

"just have someone with a fast lock sit rigth on top of the gate and jump trough before the frig and get him on the other side"
... The jump-in cloak is fixed now, so after crossing the gate the frigate pilot has all time in the world to fire their mwd(s) (moving too fast for big guns to track) and engage warp in-flight, as soon as they decloak.

Yes, MWD frigates are a huge challenge to stop in a blockade both running through the blockade and also when they jump-in/warp away.
We continue to try configs to stop them.

errrr experience has proven that a BS could shot down a frig by using something like 4 sensor booster... erm... that means of course the BS is not fitted to intercept other BSs :) lock time with this setup (I was of course in the frig) is around 1 second max I think... If one of the 2 mwd fails.. u got a problem :) If u can activate both mwd, then it's ok :P (armor damages although). Matter of luck against that kind of ship... especialy if it lags

Nah, to lock a frigate in one second in a Battleship will require a 2nd ship using remote sensor boosters on you. Caldari ships who might have enough medium slots for it also has the worst base targetting speed.
Either way you will make yourself very vulnerable to ships of your own class, so it's all nicely balanced in my oppinion.

I've run through FD-MLJ and PF-346 both ways several times in a Punisher with 4 Overdrives and 2 MWDs... I've never even been targetted, I'm at the gate before they can even respond.
I've counted, and the longest it takes me to get to a gate is about 3 seconds from dropping out of warp.
Most of the time I've not carrying anything, but I've carried minor BPs and skillpacks through before. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

If also u jump behind the frig to try and lock it you will never get the locking time if the pilot has enough evasive manoovering and navigation skills. "Teh lord of Nonni"

Minmatar frigates = speed devils. probes, vigils and rifters can reach over 2km/s before hitting the jumpgate, you dont even need to set them to auto-repeat, just click once, and autopilot will get you there. but beware, if there is one camper yelling at the other campers to not get near him, he has smartbombs (/me pokes comstar). ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

I havent had a problem running them in a BS. If your set up to transport some goodies keep cap rechargers and mwds and laugh at em on your way threw :P
Whats even more fun is to go into there blockade and beat em down till they run and log. What ever happend to the good gate campers I tell ya sometimes I miss them space invaders :P

I agree Sarah,I have my personal frigate up to 12500 kps now I can blow through any gate before they knwo what hit them... Frigates (Properly set up 2MW's )are the best way to travel

Edited by: Solwolf on 03/02/2004 15:04:00 I've been podded with a Tristan and 2 mwds. The person who got me said she was in a Scorpion with 4 sensor boosters. I managed to run through 3 blockades earlier too. The 4th one is the one that got me. Both of my mwds were on, and I just couldn't move due to being webified and warp scrambled.
I was running autopilot and it takes a second or two for the autopilot to approach the gate. I might have avoided the problem if I had manually approached the gate instead, but I'm not sure.
There's no sure way to run a blockade really, except possibly with insta-jump bookmarks.

When I put 2 MWDs on my tristan, I usually jump w/in 2 seconds of warping in. I don't think I've ever even been locked w/ this setup.
Once, I wanted to die so I warped into a blockade and flew in a straight line with missles chasing. The missles couldn't keep up with me and in about 10 seconds, I was so far from the gate, I had to warp back. Frigates are definitely the best *precious* cargo vessels.
