I love a good conspiracy as much as the next guy, but you have to know what to trust and what not to trust.
Scorpyn (EDIT)û Yes I finally saw that. I really liked the part when CCPAN said, "First of all, stop buying isk!"
Akita T û Actually I have kept on top of current google issues. If Google (or any company) listened to the mob mentality general public and did everything the mob wanted, then they would not be in the position they are in. That position is fighting for your internet freedom. Also, comparing them to MSÆs business model, you apparently need to do some more research on the subject. Use Google to educate you on the topic.
Zarin û This is what I meant when I was talking about mob mentality. People make a blanketed statement with absolutely no link, back up or even a little story on a blog to back it up. Eve is so small compared to Google that Google probably does not even know CCP exists. No offence CCP.
Curzon Dax - You have to purchase product for the webmaster to get profit. /rolls eyes
Nyphur - Do realize that Shattered Crystal has adverts through Google ads? It is how I found them.
This isn't a blog, because my fiance doesn't have the interest in blogging. But I know that she is dropping AdSense because of their attitude towards them as an advertiser.
My fiance's company does not ship to most parts of the world because they think that a 4-6 week wait to clear customs is not good for a business in the fashion world. There is an Italian company with multiple "portals" in different languages that is an Affiliate. Their sole content is Google Adsense ads, displayed in various languages. Not one of those languages is one that is predominantly spoken in countries my fiance will ship to.
Those who click on those links leave abandoned orders on her website all the time. The money the Affiliates get per click come directly from the advertisers. The Affiliate in question has directed MANY people to her online store, resulting in increasing advertising costs. There are now several companies involved in this kind of scam (and it IS a scam, as they are being paid to direct would-be buyers to companies that are unable to sell to them) and Google has yet to answer a single query about how to prevent this. After over a year of fighting it, she has left AdSense.
Comes down to it that Google no longer cares about the impact they have on the little guy. Goes against the founding principle, really. Unfortunate, but I knew the day they went public that it would happen. As they teach in the business school at the university I attend, once a company goes public they have one fiduciary responsibility, and that is to the shareholders. And if the company tries to prioritize things differently, they get taken to court by institutional shareholders. Google has turned into this. It has to- current laws take it out of their hands. Maximum profit is the LAW for companies such as Google. My sister learned that in business school, and that is why she went into the nonprofit sector.
