I kind of got bored of looting and salvaging and I figure...what the heck...I'll just blast my way thru the standing. After all, they just seem to drop various modules and ammo that I can get anywhere.
Then I came accross mobs that don't give bounty but drop things like "Cladary Navy Tag" etc. Am I missing anything important by not looting these?
Also is there anything else that is important to search the wrecks?

Occasionally a better than average module drops that is worth osme cash but not so much with hi sec rats.
That said looting and salvaging can make a decent amount of ISK. Sell the named stuff. Melt down the crud. Salvage items can turn a nice return on the market as well.
If all you care about is grinding faction then maybe not worry so much about looting. I never loot missions below L4 (when I am grinding up to get to L4 missions).
Up to you in the end. Often I call out in corp chat to see if anyone else wants to loot a mission. I usually let them keep it all but you can negotiate whatever you want with them.

Cuz after things like blockade and worlds collide there's so much loot and it pains me to leave it but then I figure I don't have enuff time anyways. You can pass a bookmark to someone else without ganging?

The tags you'll find are pretty handy, they're used along with Loyalty Points to buy stuff from factions, though you do need hundreds of them. Alternatively you can sell them to other players or NPC corps for decent ISK.

It it's level 1 and level 2 (or even level 3 depending on how fast you are at looting and salvaging) it may not really be worth your time to loot and salvage. ------------------

I'd say that if you're looting and salvaging, get a destroyer set up as a dedicated salvage-boat (I can't figure out if you're using one or not). If you've got a destroyer handy, I'd say that yes, it's definitely worth it, I can clean a lvl 4 extravaganza in about 20 minutes, so it's definitely a money-earner. If you're not using a salvage boat though, I wouldn't worry about it

I got a destroyer with 5 salvagers and 3 tractor beams.
It still takes long and it's pretty darn boring imho...considering there's really no excitement from "phat lootz" (because there is none!). Unless I happen to be chatting with someone atm and/or backgrounding it. But then those activities make it take even longer.
In the beginning it was neat cuz I would find things I can try on my ship. The ônovelty and discoveryö wore off when I knew what I liked to fit and nothing I found was useful other than the rare "named" item that I coulda gotten from the market anyway but was too lazy to travel.
Right now I just got to level 3 missions and am training the skills to do them. In all honesty, I find missions to be pretty boring as well as they really lack variety imho. Can't say much for their "emersion" either.
I'm just doing them to get the hang of using ships and maybe get some future LP store stuff. But it seems so expensive...like you gotta grind for days to get something decent. Then when you get blow away, it just disappears.

I¦m also fed up with the civilian shield boosters dropped during my level 3 missions, and I always thrash cap booster injections (or whatever they¦re called) for cargo space reasons.
Apart from that I always loot and salvage everything. This is my main ISK income, as bounties and mission rewards aren't that high until you run level 4 missions.
You should keep all the tags because the LP store requires lots of them for certain items.

I have been keeping a log of all the lvl 4 missions I have completed (only about 40 or so yet), but the main thing I have learnt from the log is that app. 50% of my income from lvl 4 missionrunning comes from loot, salvage and reprocessed loot, despite looting only taking about 30% of the total mission time. This includes calculating income from LP gained at the rate of 1 LP = 1000 isk.
Based on this, I always loot my missions, except if the purpose of running it is not the income but gaining standings for eg. jump clones and the like.

Quickest way to loot it is bookmark each section of the mission while u do it in a combat ship and after finishing the missions u can come back with a salvege ship and warp to the bookmarks u made.
The cans will be there but it wont be deadspace anymore so u can use a mwd.

I was ratting in 0.8 during my first week back after a year away and looted a miner upgrade that is currently up for auction and is at 200 mil ISK at the moment. Nice little bit of seed cash right there. Also salvage can get you maybe an additional 100k each belt. Probably not worth doing if you're a vet but for us "newbs" it is an essential source of cash.

Oh trust me, there are phat lewts to be had, especially in level 4's. I once got an arbalest siege launcher and 425mm prototype I gauss from a single ship, that made me more than the entire day's missions put together. Salvaging is also one of those things that really adds up over time, sure, it's only 30k here, 300k there, but after a mission if you're lucky you might have 3-4 mil worth of salvage at the end of it

My rule of thumb has been this: After I got set up decently with enough ISK to be comfortable, I stopped looting and salvaging L1 missions. Once I got to L2 missions, I looted the first few, and there was pretty much no difference, so I quit looting those. Almost to L3 missions, I'll start looting and salvaging when I get there. A corp mate of mine let me come behind him and salvage one of his L3 missions, and I made about 7 mil for 30 minutes worth of work. No matter where you're at in the game, that's not too bad of a haul. The chance for named and high value loot is a lot better in higher level missions, so I'd say it starts to be worth it around L3. Up until then, I'm just trying to fly through the missions as fast as I can.
Hope that helps. -Sarge

Always loot.
You can then build up a store of components - say, 50 each of everything - recycle everything over that number.
You'll then have a nice stock of bits and bobs to build throwaway ships to PvP with (sometimes it's useful to be able to throw together a fully fitted 10 Tristan wolf pack) and you'll also be able to help new players out with donations of hardware.

I loot all my lvl 3 missions. I keep/sell the named, melt the rest to make ammo and save the rig parts to make my own rigs.
As stated above, use a destroyer with 4 salvage and 4 beams. I've found cormorant works best. Ab/cap rechargers and a cargo expander.

Looting on Monday night yeilded 2 very nice items.
One sold for 13,000,000 and the other for 3,500,000.
This was out of two separate Level III missions. I've sold nearly 20,000,000 worth of gear so far from these 2 missions, and there are plenty of sell orders still up on the market. I haven't even looked at the salvage yet. I've also got a stack of gear to be melted for minerals (just waiting for my scrapmetal processing skills).
You can sell those tags as well - Caldari and Amarr Navy tags get good prices at Federation Navy facilities (there are others who'll buy them as well). Alternatively - you can use the tags to redeem loyalty point rewards.
I'm sure you can find a buddy to loot/salvage for you.....for a cut of the profit. Cheers Baka ______________________ Have a Skill in training every second of every day and never buy a ship you can't afford to replace at least once. |

looting is only "important" if you need isk and modules and stuff. otherwise, no.

When I run missions I do not loot LV1 and 2 missions, as the loot is rarely worth the time required to collect. Lv3's is where things actually become semi worhtwhile. So avoiding the loot time on lv 1 and 2 means you can grind through them faster to get the standing to start making money on lv 3's
