I know this really belongs to the Idea Forum - but the feedback from the officials there is minimum and most people seldom go there, so I will post here instead.
In the lights of the recent graphical enhancements to drones and certain ships (namely Thorax and Megathron) I would just like to request some enhancement of some planets too. Some planets look really good (especially the Jupiter-style ones) while some others are basically four giant squares of different shades of grey patched together (example: Caldari Prime). It would do so much for game feeling if some of these planet textures were revamped.
Furthermore, it would be really cool if we could see some ambient life in the core systems - like make Amarr bustle with lights from cities...
Just my thoughts :) /Nightfang

Ringed planets would be so cool!

Actually one of the things I really liked about the planets in Earth and Beyond was how as the planets rotated on their axis, city lights would be visible in regions on the night side.

I agree that would sweet! Then we could build our own station and put it directly between two planets on the night side... oh saweet!!! and then we can get a pic of our Titans undocking from this cool station and speckly in the lights of the planets at night

Well I mean for all we know, all of these planets are completely devoid of population. Here's an addendum to the idea: have areas that have a greater density of population, and thus more lights on inhabitable planet types. For example in empire space we should see a very high density of lights on the planet surface, whereas maybe out in the middle of 0.0 space there would be very few planets with lights (and then very sparse, mere outposts maybe).

Agreeing, would be massively cool, but that would hog up LOADS of time from the game makers where they could be fixing grid problems and thus. But hey, who's stopping them from getting more ppl todo it :) -nove

They used to have rings way back in early beta. Those dumb cloud things were added near the end of beta. Eve also had black holes, and suns looked different. I seem to recall seeing a screenshot of a black hole devouring a nearby star, bt that might have been a PS job.

Well, that depends on how they wanted to do it. I don't think it would take the art department long to whip up textures for the planets that include the lights from the cities below but the part that would probably take a bit of time would be making it so they only show up on the dark side :-)

Edited by: BoBoZoBo on 02/02/2004 21:56:31 Agreed, night side population lights are essential, they are just as important to the space ambiance as the stars and twinkle of the planets in the distance.
It is difficult to believe that NONE of the planets in EVE are inhabited.
Keep clamoring for this one. It is realy not difficult to do. They have done such a beautiful job with the current textures. |
