Hey, I'm a new player trying to get an idea bout the different types of ships. Currently playing Minmatar why I am only intrested in the options I'm facing on that path.
1. Best 10 ships ( nomatter what type of ship for group / solo pvp ) 2. Best Frigate / Cruiser / BS .. etc you get the point.
Would appriciate in depth information why you consider one ship better than the other. I want to learn more, why a simple ' Rifter is the best ' isn't useful.

Rifter -> Stabber/Rupture -> Hurricane -> Tempest -> Ragnarok (if you can tolerate it as an autorok :p)
Autocannons rock, and so do the ships that use them best.

Depending on your skills, any of the hard core combat ships will do you well such as the rifter and hurricane. Both are fast well armored and can pump out a huge amount of dps. For cruisers, if you're into solo work, the stabber will probably be best whereas the rupture is better in fleets. Also, the wolf is an exceptional assault ship and the vagabond is among the best pvp ships available.

Edited by: Megan Maynard on 07/08/2007 20:41:23 When I do this I take into account price, firepower, training time a little bit and solo capability.
Best NON-capital ships (In order): Slepnir, typhoon, hurricane, rifter, vagabond, tempest, Huginn, rupture, jaguar, and sabre. The typhoon has by far the most potential skills wise, the slepnir is just plain MEAN. Cane was hard to put at third but the slep and phoon are too good. Rifter was an easy 4th.
Best in each ship class (Combining t1 and t2) Frig: rifter (Best damn ship in the game pound for pound.) Cruiser: Vagabond Battle Cruiser: Slepnir Battleship: Typhoon
Rifter is an amazing ship because it is cheap, has a ton of firepower for it's size, is fast, and can do a multitude of tasks. (Missions, killing drones, tackling, bumping, etc....) Vagabond is the most Solo pvp ship in the eve universe, you really don't need to worry about too much in a vagabond, except lag. Slepnir is firepower/defense/other players turn around and run away. Typhoon is a good ship but without the proper skills can seem crappy. Get t2 drones, guns, MWD, torps/cruise, and hull upgrades and you will deal some serious damage against any ship in the game.

I would put the Jaguar over the wolf anyday. 2 extra mids, is much better then 2 extra lows. With the resist layout of Matari T2 ships, Armor Tanking just isn't a good choice if you have the meds for shield.

But for anti-tackle support, the passive shield Wolf is the deal. Don't need to scramble tacklers, if they run away, you did your job. Not a killmail machine, though.

In terms of purely outclassing anything in its weight range the Sabre runs away with it. A decent Sabre pilot can pick and choose his fights and kill far heavier ships.
Sabre closely followed by Rapier/Huginn & Vaga, they're all stunningly good at what they do.

Bellicose, because its the only ship in EvE that uses psychological warfare on the enemy, They laugh so much that it has random varied effects such as not shooting till its too late to letting themselves get tackled without any resistance. Really its uber hawt and it has a bonus to pwnage modules.

I like the Maelstrom the best out of all the minmatar BS. No other ship can approach its level of dps while still maintaining as awesome of a tank as it has.

You actually have no idea what your talking about.
SLeipnir is nice, but not teh best minatar ship. The typhoon is **** - simple, it has no grid and is a complete waist of money to nano compared to the Machariel. Buy a tempest for 10mil more and be happy.
vaga is probably the best minmatar ship overall, with the huginn coming a close second (if not being equally as good). If you have flown either of these then you'll know what im talking about.
