I've been playing off and on for a couple of years and I'm wondering why I bother. I don't recall seeing anything by CCP verifying that they no longer do more than just "play" the game. It's only a game but it's not only money, it's real money we pay to play and the owners haven't proven that they aren't cheats. No integrity = dishonesty and cowardice. Going back to SWG is better than putting up with this and that's scary :-) |

Honestly, you are trying to resurrect an old and painful subject that has been closed. I see it as an act of pure trolling and flame-bating. If you feel that you need to ask yourself the question of "Why Bother?" - then leave, go back to SWG and SOE (not affiliated with Sisters of EVE), and their poor customer support, complete disregard for the player base, and total ignorance as to what the players really want out of game.
CCP consists of human beings, not drones, not machines; they are human beings who love this game, pure and simple, just because one human being made a mistake, and got a bit over his head into the game world, a while ago, that did not result in any major unbalancing of the game, does not mean that people should be bringing it up over and over again, and dance around it like it is a ubiquitous occurrence.
CCP also created an oversight IA department, as such, if you really have a major concern or know something is not legitimate or improper is going on, they are easily reachable.
Yes, the game has problems, just like any other game. But it is still the best bloody game on this green Earth, it runs on what, a 10 year old engine? And still beats the pants off the competition of fairies and ogres that run on super duper codes.
Yet, despite that, we get amazingly detailed communication from the developer team, and the guys who are in charge of the company are actually dedicated and are interested in the game, which is 100% opposite if you look at EA, SOE, and the rest of them, who view their creations only as temporary cash cows.
Just because you are here bemoaning an unfortunate episode of over a year ago, does not corruption make.
You want to waste your hard earned cash? Go to SOE, go to Blizzard, go smoke *****, just go.

For the first time I think it might not be bad if they would play the game ... then they would experience all the desyncs and insane lag which makes fleet battles and other battles unplayable. Maybe they would get annoyed enough to kick someones a** hard enough that it will get fixed asap.

Im sure they are looking/working hard to improve this game and
to fix bugs.
Some bugs are hard to find and fix, so give them a break.
If you truly dislike the game and find it to 'buggy' then quit
and play something else, pretty simple ah.

if you belive that a DEV or GM are acting improperly report them to IA and they will invenstigate
other wise stop digging up the dead horse so you can beat it some more

Off and on for a couple of years?
I took a 4 year (almost) break, and things have changed TREMENDOUSLY. But you know what? It's still the same ole Eve.
The old lady has spirit, she does.
CCP? Yeah, I'd imagine they've had a rough time. Some of the other forums were all abuzz about some stuff going down with a developer.
Problem is, nothing you can do about it. Icelandic law about double jeopardy on the job and all that. Not sure there's anything that should be done, really, at this point.
But CCP is still CCP. They had the gutting experience of having to ship Eve on-time due to their distributor wanting it on time rather than having it done right, but they persevered. I spent three months paying to basically betatest the game after it was released. The community (and devs) persevered and it's over 4 succesful years later.
Now this thing what happened last year, and they come out smelling like roses compared to any other organization. Let me tell you what: one store in a national restaurant chain has an E.coli outbreak, it can put the whole brand out of business (ever hear of ChiChi's?) That was the same kind of thing that happened here.
But CCP loves Eve, and didn't abandon her. They could have taken the easy way out and just said, Fine, we'll sell the brand to someone who doesn't know and doesn't care about what we have built. Let the professionals handle it, since that is what the community apparently wants.
But they didn't, not because they don't care about the community, but because they care about the game. Look, they set up a publically visible IA unit. They are offering to (if I read this right) fly elected members of the community to Iceland to do whatever it takes to satisfy the community of the integrity of their internal procedures.
Yeah, you can blow it off as marketing. But then I'd say they should blow you off as a customer who can not be satisfied no matter what. As a manager myself, I know that there comes a time when you have to take a customer by the arm and steer him or her out the door because of it. If you are still not satisfied, then the "Cancel Subscription" option is one login away.
And if you are just a troll, then I hope your posting priveleges are curtailed. If nothing else, it is a topical necro, unless you have something else to offer us.

i worked on an online game once, and almost lost my job after some dozy bint hacked her boyfriends account and told people id done it for her.
Accusations of corruption hurt, and for some reason there is always someone who has some random made up story of woe who wants to bring staffers down.
Im sorry your e-peen envy is so bad you feel you need to bring down a GM to feel good about yourself. Im sorry your wife/gf/pet dog left you and you feel the need to bring attention to yourself, but quite frankly i feel that throwing accusations of corruption around, founded or not, just makes you an idiot.
If you have legitimate cause for concern, take it through official channels. If you dont think theyll listen to you, ask a forum mod or corp/alliance leader to chase it for you. But ultimately, wether you get the answers you want or not, keep it to yourself and leave the bull at the door.
When i got tarred with the corrupt gm brush it was a week before xmas and i was missing my 3 yr old son who i hadnt seen for a year. Truth is all i wanted to do was get my head down in work and try to get through it. Instead i was told to take a few weeks off and came very close to being fired.
Next time you feel the need to enlarge your peen, consider shutting up instead. Most people dont care, many dont want to hear it, and the accused probably dont want their livelihood endangered by the random mutterings of a barely litterate 12 year old.

Please visit the EVE Information Portal to review the discussions that have gone on, several of which are still open for posting.
If you have evidence of malfeasance on the part of CCP staff, email [email protected]. If you have evidence of cheating or exploiting, open a petition.
