Anyone got a good setup for a rifter? i need a good setup for missions, theres lots of pvp setups here but not many missions, there is one on the ship index thing but its dated 2006, is this still ok? Any setups would be a big help thanks ---------

Any decent PvP setup will own level 1 missions, anyway - in fact, when I did do missions, i had a web/scram fitted 90% of the time

Yes, those setups are fine. Not much has changed with the Rifter in a long time, because it's just one of those things that's practically perfect. When I was doing lvl 1's as a n00b I used something like this:
2x 250mm Artillery 2x Standard Launcher 1x Cold Gas AB 1x Stasis Web 1x Cap Recharger 1x SAR 1x RCU 1x Overdrive Injector
A friend of mine who had run his early lvl 1's in a blaster Incursus watched me rofl through Worlds Collide and was quite jealous. Some people are of the opinion that 3:1 guns to launchers is preferable to take advantage of the ships bonuses, but I felt that the tradeoff for specialised damage and 100% hit rate was worth a turret.
If you want to get to knife range with an autocannon setup, use 3 AC's and 1 rocket launcher, replace the cap recharger with a medium shield extender, and the RCU/SAR with shield power relays or istabs. You'll have to rely exclusively on your speed tank, though. _

3x250s would be kind of hard to fit for a low sp player, but if it fits I'd go for it over 2 launchers. You have quite a nice tracking bonus on it and will hit pretty much anything as long as you stick with an AB and not MWD (+30% tracking at frig 4).
It is really an AC boat tbh. Great tracking, good agility and fast enough to close in and dictate range in seconds, even with a plain t1 AB.
"Cookie Cutter" pve rifter goes something like: 3x 150s (upgrade/downgrade as needed to fit, not much difference either way) 1 rocket
1 medium extender 1 small extender 1 AB
1 gyro 1 PDS 1 nanofiber (SPR if it fits, but the recent change in cpu may have made it impossible without Electronics 5 and decent weapon upgrades skill)

For mission running, you might also consider giving the Breacher a chance. It's a solid little damage dealer and its speed and range ensures that nothing in any lvl1 mission will get close enough to even touch you. Here's my old setup; everything just fits with engineering 4.
3 standard missile launchers 280mm howitzer
small shield extender II (or maybe a small booster instead)
overdrive injector micro auxilliary power core (might need to train up a bit for this)
