I am the ceo of a small but growing corp and am looking into voice chat as we are going to be getting into some PVP very soon and think this gives you a real edge.
Can anyone give me some advice on going with teamspeak or eve voice. I have used team speak before but know very little about eve voice and how good it is.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Edited by: chrisreeves on 10/08/2007 10:20:38 I prefer ventrilo actually. If you have a good service provider then you get exceptionally better sound quality than with teamspeak. Unfortunately I have not had good experiences with teamspeak however, it does have some nice advantages.
Now to your question. Eve voice can in no way compete with teamspeak or ventrilo for that matter. For one thing, you can use teamspeak without logging into eve. As far as the ability to create channels, whispers and other things in teamspeak give it an advantage over eve voice. Teamspeak will also only cost you around 10 a month depending on your package. Eve voice will cost each member and if you add up this cost on a per corp basis, it can end up costing more than other superior voice software.
I think it costs 10 a year for eve voice. If you have 20 members thats 200. For a 50 person ventrilo server (company I use has great quality and superb service) I would pay 15 (or 20 for teamspeak) a month. So now, you can do the math here and see the advantage. While eve voice would save you, using teamspeak or ventrilo would save your entire corp rl money. The ones that can't afford eve voice for whatever reason would still be able to use voice comms that you provide through teamspeak or ventrilo. I know my corp appreciates our ventrilo server.
Hope this helps and of course, everyone has their own opinions of course. -----------------

TS / Vent (personal choice as to which) is massively cheaper. Thats all there is to say about it, really. --------

TS of vent. whatever you like best. I think TS is the most compatible and known with most players.
EVE voice is totally out of the question.

At the moment I would recommend TeamSpeak, but I've heard of plans/ideas for eve voice features that might make it better than ts in the future.
Btw, if you're planning to set up a ts/vent server by yourself rather than renting it, you could always try Mumble.

Well given with gangs I've had people drop or CTD etc and have to regang them, I know there TS link is stable.
I eat my dinner with a knife and a fork, NOT two swiss army knifes ;). I like it simple.
As for eve voice I havn't tried it personaly. But if your ingame and then say suddenly not, loggin back in to hear people say to then find out the gate your disappeared from game is now majorly hostile, when on TS I'd know before even retyping my password. Well, can see my preference.
That said you get can always try out both and see what works for you. Different creeds have different needs and preferences.

Vent or TS. The main reason is that Evevoice stops working when your client dies.

Both. As has been said, if you crash then you lose comms with Eve Voice.
But the integratedness of Eve Voice is very powerful. I'm not gonna tell on these forums what benefits it brings. But I find I can control people much better with Eve Voice.

Only for up to 1000 players at the same time.
Which should be enough for most of us though.

I'd recommend Team Speak to be honest. Can't find much wrong with it!
If you don't have the connection or means to host a server to test with a couple of friends, I would be glad to help you out with a TS server with admin rights to get a feel for it. --- ●EVE-Online professional Corporation/Alliance Killboard, Forum & TeamSpeak hosting services! http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=572951 |

Vent all the way. It has so many more features than TS and I find it to just have better quality overall.
But no matter what... Vent OR TS is going to be better than eve voice.
