Well, atleast the spectral class suggests it is a orange/red star and temp should be between 3000-4000K.
However, the luminosity of this star, along with radius suggests a main sequence star, so the red giant classification would be incorrect.
Now, what's really strange is the star's age... the oldest known star today is HE 1523-0901 at just over 13 billion years old, and the observed age of the universe is not much older.... unless EVE takes place 20 billion years in the future

How the filters on your camera drones idea sound?
After all you don't see directly from a window (according to the back story) but via camera drones, which most probably have various filters applied on their lenses. In some stars work perfect in others not so perfect.

For the sake of continuity, we'll just have to assume that we're completely wrong about the universe's age, and that the EVE inhabitants have got it right... --------

I thought he meant that he is flying inside the radius of the star, but there is talk of the age of system, so am confused

Well IIRC, a K6 star should probably be able to stay on the main sequence for about 20-25 billion years. Maybe longer depending how massive it is.
It wouldn't be a red giant - by definition a red giant is not on the main spectrum.
Having said that, observing a star that is about two and half times the age of the presently observable universe would definitely throw a cat among the cosmological pigeons.
Luckily we can be pretty sure that won't be observed. Would be a bit like walking down the street and seeing a 350 year old bloke. Very well... Give him CAKE

I think you found a secret there.
Maybe the Eve portal made the humanity go 20b in the future ?
Then earth died because of the sun ?
