I know that this has been brought up before, and probably has its own ancient thread, but there is a bug here.
I killed Zor 45 minutes ago. My security status is exactly the same as it was when Castor was released, right down to the last decimal place (as seen in Edit Member in the corp info area). There are no entries other than the initial Castor standings being set when I look at the security standings history. Not one thing has caused it to go up since.
I accepted the story that perhaps I'm not killing tough enough pirates to get my 3.0+ rating to budge. It was kind of hard to swallow because I had killed plenty of pirates in the 55k to 85k range. But what the heck, perhaps I needed to fight tougher pirates as was mentioned recently. Okay, there's a cap on how much lesser pirates can increase it. I could live with that.
However, today it is way too much to accept. I killed a 500k pirate by the name of Zor, I did it all by myself (so it wasn't like I had to share it with anyone), and still no security rating increase? Good grief, this has to be a bug, right?
Please either tell me that it isn't a bug and explain why it isn't, or fix it. I've had enough of the we don't believe you because we don't think you understand fully how it works pitch I get everytime I bring it up.
Thanks

Want to add that my security rating is exactly:
3.0609986231
I'm really starting to believe it is my "Social Security Number" as I practically have it memorized. For those as compulsive as myself, I'm really looking forward to seeing some of those digits round up, perhaps you are too!

Umm yep sounds like a bug, post in patch review, email a polaris member or a dev if that fails start a petiton... I am sure someone can help you with it...
One quick question... what socila skills do you have?

Although it does look like a bug, it won't make any difference anyway given it's effectively still impossible to raise your sec status by any non-trivial amount. So until that's fixed I wouldn't worry about it . ____________________________________

I have Social 5, Negotiations 4, Fast Talk 3, and Connections 4.
Yeah, I hear you about the amount of increases. However even a trivial amount is infinitely more than I'm getting.
P.S. I'm loving this look for some reason, sorry about that.

Edited by: Neslo on 03/02/2004 13:49:50 It's not a bug as you aren't killing the right objects... now if you kill a gallente police ship... you should see a noticible security change :)
PS - might not be entirely positive... but the numbers in your sec status might change... a little... (Never underestimate the opportunity to keep the masses down with a simple coding error :) ) From Ashes to Ashes... From Dust to Dust....

I have many, many entries in my Concord transactions log regarding security status changes. They always say something like 'adjusted by 0.0001%' (which is kinda nothing anyway, but regardless it CHANGES).
In your place I would petition the hell out of that in game. Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

I suffered from this to start with.
It did clear it's self after a while. Have you tried changing ships? I know it sounds silly, but its something I do rarely, and had done before this fixed itself. ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

In my case, I only get sec raises if I kill rat -spawns-. I don't get any security rating increases from killing mission rats at all.

Time for the agent mission runners to revolt! The man can't keep us down any longer. (This seems most likely reason. )

Doesn't sound silly at all. I've been flying the same ship since Castor. (Perhaps that's the reason my agent has given me 400+ shuttles so far, sort of an in-game hint. )

Yeah, I can see them for others. Endless entries of minor changes. Mine just shows the initial standing set when Castor released.

I'll be sure to let you know when 3.0609986231 rolls over to 3.0609986232 if that's the case.

I think sec status is bugged in general. I recieved a -2.5 hit on an alt for something few days ago and it never took. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

I also have NO noticable changes to the "number" since Castor.
What is happening here? Do we have each individually petition?

I am having the same problem. I think Mrissa Easeah is right. All of my kills have been part of agent missions.

Pre CP3, I was of the opinion that:
- Mission kills did not alter security status - Gate pirate kills did not alter security status - Spawn and asteroid kills did, but only if I killed slightly higher than the bottom pirates (I have a low sec status)
Post CP3, the later seems not to work for me anymore, but I have yet to go and get a set of cruisers to spawn in a belt.

I've received a tiny sec increase since patch, but only once, after I had killed several spawns with rats that contained at least 4x 12.5k bounties. Anything less than that and squat-all shows up on my sec changes.

i dont think it goes up at all. in my log i have 1 change for the date when castor came out. Pre castor i had a lovely .1 that took me months of killing stuff while mining... now it went back to 0.0 and never get any change.

Missions donŠt seem to give Security Status bonuses. IŠve checked and with my 2.1 (now 2.2) Security Status I had to kill 35k pirates to get it, any lower would not count.
