Out of the box, fresh install, install EVE - Confirm this game works or not?
I have 5 computer setup, all different hardware ranging from ATI Graphics to Nvidia.
I purchased 5 copies of Vista Ultimate Edition and have upgraded 2 of the 5. Following Config
Computer 1: Dell XPS Generation III 3.4GHZ Extreme Edition (single core) 4GB DDR2 PC4200 2x 160GB SATA in Raid0 Geforce 8800GTX Ultra 768MB PCI-X
Computer 2: Custom Built DFI NF4 LanParty Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 FX62 @ 2.8GHZ 4GB DDR 2x 74GB Raptor 10k in Raid0 ATI X2900XT 512MB DDR3
Both fresh installs of Vista Ultimate, Both with latest drivers (as of 8/12/07) for all hardware. Nothing else installed besides latest Vista Updates and EVE.
BOTH DO NOT WORK, I have tried the cache deletion just to have it rebuild and leave me with the same issue. Black screen @ login. Please advice as this is the ONLY MMORPG that i play (relevance to the point i pay for each account 4 in total). This is where a game actually makes a financial decision on what I do next... Load the other 5 or eat the cost of 1,000.00 because the one game i play online and pay for I canĘt use vista with. LMK

Edited by: WhitePhantom on 12/08/2007 18:24:50 The game works fine with Vista and is fully supported, and as always worked in fact.
Be sure you run the game with the "run as administrator" otherwise permissions depending on your setup might not be correct.

Both computers, both completely different hardware...both same result? I dont get it?
Just go to launch and there is a black box where the splashscreen (login) would be, thats it.

You probably have x-fi sound card??? I have the same problem but I think it is mainly due to bad creative drivers.

Definitely make sure any Creative drivers are up to date, they're a nightmare otherwise.
The drivers for the 2900XT and 8800GTX may need some more time to mature and become stable, especially on Vista. Have you asked Nvidia or AMD/ATI?
I run two clients fine on Vista Business Edition. ----------

I am running on Windows Ultimate 64 with the same Geforce 8800GTX Ultra 768MB PCI-X just fine. Couple of things with the black screen - have you set your screen resolution to at least 1024x768 and more then 256 colors before running the game and make sure you do a fresh eve install and run it. Not copied from another PC - eve video settings are stored on the PC - copying from a PC with different hardware could mess you up.

Yeah I've been running EVE on Vista Home Premium whole summer, has been working nicely so far. Only special thing I had to do was installing that one patch as system administrator.
Tho now after I installed Opteron 175 I've been having bluescreen crashes every now and then, dunno if it's the EVE or no (always been on EVE while crashing). With old processor it was just fine (3700+ san diego).
