This
If you would watch the first few seconds of this video there is an effect were there is like a flash of light that starts at a point and flashes out.. anyways i would like to recreate this effect for the start of my next video, so text would be in the centre of the screen(name of the video) and the light comes from behind and does atleast sort of like what it does in that video, i remember effects like this(were light shines through the letters) in older videos, and i suspect these effects can be made with after effects.
so itd be appreciated someone perhaps directing me to a guide or instructing me how to create these effects
Thx, Abe

You mean like this?, Yeah, you need After Effects to be honest.
No links on how to do it, because it's just a case of selecting the layer behind the text and you go effect=>generate=>lens flare.
Then just keyframe it out - takes a few minutes.
Oh, I used a font called 'viper squad' for your name btw, thought it was a nice touch

Your best bet for something like that is to use after effects, a custom white shape as a layer, and use Trapcode Shine on said shape (by the looks of that, cranking up the boost light as you go along).

That one should be fairly easy to do in Premiere..video effect > render > lens flare ___________________________ Trust In Rust!

Yeah, but the lens flare in Premiere is pretty weak. The one in After Effects just oozes quality, and you have much better manipulation over it too.

I don't have After Effects with me at the moment, so can't really guide on what to do (other than saying, load after effects, create some text as a layer (text tool), get trapcode shine plugin, enable the effect on the text layer (effects -> Trapcode -> Trapcode shine), and then mess with the settings).
The trapcode website itself has pretty good introductory tutorials showing the basics of shine. http://www.trapcode.com/support.html
If no one has told you anything by next monday (when I get back home), give me a message in eve, and I'll help you out

No problem:
To do the following, you need After Effects 7.0 Pro (or Adobe Production Studio CS2) and Trapcode's plugin 'Shine'.
1) Create a new composition, settings as required. 2) Take your text tool and click in the composition window to create text layer, font size etc as required. 3) With the text selected go Effect>Trapcode>Shine, and then Effect>Stylize>glow 4) Goto time/frame Zero on your timeline window and allow the keyframes to be the following Settings 5) Goto the end of your timeline, or move to the required duration and use these Settings 6) Goto a few frames in from Zero and set a keyframe for the shine opacity to 100%.
Depending on the size of the composition, you may wish to increase the boost light and ray length keyframes.
7) Render.
Once this is setup, save the project and should you wish to change the text, just highlight it with the text tool and over-type it - all of the settings above will still apply themselves to the text.
As always Aberash, please tell me once you have DL'd these files and I'll remove them from Eve-files - remember to thank Chribba

Yeah, you can't unless you have Production Studio. You can do it the other way around though, and import your prem project into AE.
If you do all your editing and just leave blanks in the premiere project timeline for title work and import it into AE, you'll be fine. When done, render it out in AE uncompressed and use DS's Encoder or whatever, for the final run.

I was told that Prem/AE CS3 can seamlessly integrate without the need for the production package. Bastards must have lied to me :(

Edited by: Aberash on 19/08/2007 13:21:30 yeah i could just import into after effects (7.0 btw) and render there, but last time i tried that it made like an 80gb file and filled up the hard drive i was using
Alley is there any chance u could just change the Font+text u used for the one u used and upload the avi file of it then i could just slot that in, if youd be so kind
This Font In like white or red, whichever looks better .. it needs to be 4.22seconds
Only if u have the chance and dont mind doing it however, would appreciate it
oh and the writing needs to be : NECROSIS (all upper case)
.. i would offer isk but im skint as hell Youll get a mention in the movie and when ive some spare cash ill send you some

Happy to help.
Remember, if you need some flashy title work done - I'd feel better about emailing you the project file, so you can export it anyway you want.
Looking forward to the vid,
AK.
