If one were to have 500m ISK, it is safe to assume they've either committed or seen every con there is. Stupid people get rich, but not that rich.

How do you figure? 500m isn't all that much at this stage of the game. Hell, an honest trader/miner/NPC farmer could easily have 1 bil if he played regularly and had been since release.

I'm a solo miner and I've been able to mine over a billion isk worth of mega just since Castor was released. I have several battleships, and tons of frigate, cruiser, and equipment blueprints.
A single day of mining ark can bring in 100+ million isk easily.

Mining is boring but trying to get the indy back and forth to the station while outrunning CA keeps it interesting.
Mining in the middle of a war zone keeps you on your toes.

The reason for everyone to not cancel their subscription is that not everyone is willing to take the risk involved to make the fast cash.
Why mine in 1.0 system where if you are lucky you'll make 2 million an hour?
I mine in 0.0 and regularly fly through the middle of war zones to get the minerals back to the station. Every day I have ships chasing my indy attempting to kill me. A standard sized indy filled with ark brings in 10-20+ million isk per load depending on how many expanders you have fitted.
I mine with an Omen fitted with 4 mining lasers and 3 harvester drones. I mine till i get enough for a load then I warp to my safe spot and pick up the indy that i've stored there and haul the ore back to the station.
Some people get a thrill out of PvP combat, others like me get a thrill out of being able to avoid getting killed while flying an indy past blockades.

LOL. Nevermind the fact that you were exploiting flawed game mechanics to be able to mine solo i 0.0 space. Seriously, I wish people like you had their accounts removed without warning. Too bad CCP is ignorant and for some reason belives it was a challenge (yes, about 5 minutes of scanning and bookmarking) to find such grid bugged belts and as such people deserved to make a gazillion ISK at no risk.
And of course when lickspittle was willing to discuss these matters, Eris Discordia went ahead and locked the thread. Sigh.

Amen. Scouting for hidden belts and mining those is one thing. They are rare and finding them takes time and clever use of directional scanners. Simply MWDing your way around the fringes of a belt to find grid-bugged rocks and solo mining them with an Omen is an exploit. At least have the curtesy to hoard your ill-gotten ISK in silence rather than boasting about how thrilling it is to run that ore back station. CCP's failure to fix this is a sad statement about the limitations of their game design...

Exploiting? Flawed game mechanics? Ill-gotten isk?
Hard earned isk is more like it.
Ill-gotten isk is the isk that your main character makes and funnels to your alt on your 2nd account so that your alt can sit at a gate all day hopeing to snatch the crumbs that the people like me might happen to drop when you finally get around to catching us.

Iseult, it's people like you and macro miners that makes me feel I've done a good job when destroying their ships and *****ing their pods.
It isen't so that you're a good player, you're just an exploiter and you have practially admitted to being one.
But I suppose CCP is too busy conconting 'fixes' of imaginary 'sploits' instead of fixing real bugs and banning real exploiters.
CCP have done such a good job so 98% of the playerbase can't tell the difference between exploiting game poor mechanics from anything else.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

If you think 500mil is a lot of cash your crazy.
If you think 1bil isk is a lot of cash your midly nutz.
Some of us have WAY WAY more isk than that. May it be through pirating, mining, missions or what not, its really not alot of money.
Don't accuse everyone who has a Sh1tload of money to be conmen.
Some of us took advantage of mining bistot, crok, killer trade routes, selling bpcs, chain killing cruiser rats nonstop for months at a time and selling the rare loot for lots and lots of cash.
At one time I was averaging 50m-60m+ a day SOLO for about 2 months straight. Do da math. Leave poor ol nightfang alone. Be happy that he has more money than you Eltigre.
