Hi Guys,
We here in RONA-KIA decided to go ahead and make a movie of our own
Basically we took into account everything that Hellmar had said in his DEV-BLOG post and sought after creating a story and a musical board that went with the flow of the movie. There is NO smack talk, NO making fun of anyone, Not one thing that can be seen as demeaning in any way. Its a movie about venal basically.
Venal is afterall a hugely sought after region that has seen its fair share of turmoil. Though the region has seen many alliances and many people who claim venal for themselves, one thing that is for certain is that somethings no matter what you do are everlasting. That is Venal.
Through every alliance that comes and goes she will still be there. One station in particular is picked out that represents Venal(6NJ8-V) This station is what most consider the golden gem of venal. It is for all intensive purposes the station that is "Venal." This is a story about the mystique that surrounds Venal and the people who protect it.
Its our first attempt at a serious movie so if you like great. Hope you enjoy it, we had a lot of fun making it :)

Hope you enjoy

Awesome ;o
The station shots and some of the ship close-ups really sell it... and the credits sequence with those indies and just the right music is the best. ;)

SPVD could do a better production in half that.

You started posting in January, so you are obviously new at this, but then again, so am I :)
Fist off I thought it was a relly good movie, lots of firsts in it. People spend a lot of time with this sort of stuff and I love to watch them as I think most of the community does as well.
Archain started a trend that has truly taken off. Hanns made one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Drunkenmaster was the first to truly tie in the sound to the video. All of them deserve a round of applause. This vid has components of them all. Every new movie sets a bar it seems, so it can only get better :)

Fantastic.
Then the country music started...

Fantastic panning shots. Can you please tell me if you used FRAPS and what settings you used? Also, what was your editing and encoding software? _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

Sure, Yes I did in fact use FRAPS. I tried using MovieMaker Encoder but just didn't get the results I wanted. FRAPS was recording in "FULL" screen mode and 30 fps. I also have EVE running in 1280 x 1024. However at this rez and even at the lower rez's this puts a HUGE strain on your PC if you don't have some pretty good hardware.
Each clip was edited down to the parts that I thought were relevant using Virtualdub
VirtualDub
After getting each vid and cutting them down I then used virtualdub to re-encode but left it as an uncompressed AVI to save quality( I didn't want to compress it cause I knew that once I got to MovieMaker it would be compressed twice).
After all the vids were at there selected size I then imported them into moviemaker with each vid being anywhere from 400megs to over 1gig in data. Then took the painstaking task of placing all the vids in the right spot, the screenies, the works. Probably did over 100 encodings just to get the sound and vids correctly. Then had MovieMaker do the final encoding once everything was right using the local playback option at around 2.1Mbps(NTSC).
This ended up giving me a nice image without sacrificing too much quality for file size. Although at 60megs it isn't the smallest movie.
I did in fact try to encode the movie using DivX but did not like the quality at all. Even with the latest version, DivX didn't appeal to me. So the movie is basically using a microsoft codec in movie maker with the originals staying put as uncompressed avi's before the final encoding.
Hope this helps Let's keep the vids coming :)

If you want some constructive critisism (spelling?) I think the "black intermezzo pauses" lasted too long, was about to quit the clip way before the movie was over cause I thought that was it... ;)

Right,
Good points: Editing and capture (very very nice) / Music (except the credit music)
Bad points: Lack of combat scenes or battles, only 10 on 1 gankings / country music at credits / length of credits / i saw Inkz face
