I'd like to get CCP's feedback on whether they have any intentions to expand the test server capacity.
Right now we see a few things happening :-
a) TQ regularly has 5000+ people per night b) People flaming about "bad patches" c) Limit of 25 people on Chaos
I can see people's point about "flames" around bad patches when only a -very- small percentage of people can actually get on the test server to test. [Yes I know a bunch of people get on there to just kill each other as well, but that also, in a way, is a form of testing].
So CCP.. What plans do you have in this area, and with what sort of timescales?
I know that there are lots more people willing to test, but the present cap of 25 prevents a lot of people signing on when they have the time available to do anything.

Many if not most people who occasioanlly log onto chaos, do so without runnign the logserver and only do so to have sparring fights and to test out setups and loadouts for their ships. Ships and moduels are a large area of this game, but sparring so that you can fight without actually losing any wealth isn't.
I don't think increasing the limit will help much.

Chaos should be setup as a signup program. They should require testers to register with ccp and get a beta tester signon. The should have a special installer that allows for updates like the live trq system.
To get and stay registered your have to make reports. In a sense missions/tasks perscribed by the devs. I think the chaos system would be fun to be logging in and reading what new things need to be tested. Going to a agent dev with specific task to complete and when you come back have a place to put your log and any comments.
You could almost have ship/mod and agent mission tests on the trq server like in Rl and anything you get has an id soo you cant sell or have another character get. --------------------------
Garsh ma it soo cool killing people in there space thingies |

The few times I've logged on to chaos, I've noticed a few main discussions on the channel.
1. fight tests, loadouts, setups etc 2. tests how weapon stats, missile stats etc is modified (also known as "wtf! they've nerfed the <weapontype> again")
I like the idea that the testers get some kind of a ruleset they must agree to, and they will be given certain tasks to test, or they can get the heck outha there.
I've usually logged on to test certain bugs on tq if they have been fixed in a proper way, before I file another bug report. Lately, that has not been possible at all, so I have to bug the ppl in #eve-chaos for info on certain bugs.

Would these tasks include payment? That sounds like work, I play Eve for fun. If I wanted to work for CCP I'd send in my resume.
I'm glad CCP has a test server, but yes, it's mostly used to F--- around and fight. What do you expect though? The test corporation is "fight club" they give people a hangar full of weapons and ships, of course people are going to use that server to just mess around.
Perhaps if CCP gave users feedback via the news window when you logged into chaos saying "Okay here are issues we'd like you to test if you would" and "here is how to give us feedback" perhaps Chaos would be more useful?
(i'll admit I only use chaos for testing weapons, but honestly, pvp is all I really care about in eve) ------

Maybe cpp should make a billboard near the fight club station suggesting what they'd like the people that are online to test and where to send logs and feed back. I'd be happy to help out on a secific task when i'm on screwing around.

Problem is most of the time no one knows what needs testing, as no one tells us except on a few select occasions when a BH or GM asks for our help. So what are we to do, except what we always do, fight...

I wonder if you read the changelogs. Everything that has changed needs testing and feedback. If a bug is marked fixed in the changelog and you find out it isn't this is important for us to know. You should also try to make logs and good reproduction steps of bugs you find on TQ. Test them on chaos and if the bug is still there make a report of it.
You see, there is a lot more to do on chaos then simply fighting.
