Having done my omgwtfsolopwnm0ble Ragnarok setup and the ultimate fleet support Leviathan setup i'm going to move on to the Avatar.
A quick Evemon check reveals i'll need 785d, 8h, 23m, 46s training time with a cost of about 16,000,000,000isk for the books. The base cost of an Avatar is a pinch over 50,000,000,000 with some extra pimping in fittings and such we'll use a base of 100 Billion + 50 billion more for the construction infrastructure and another 30 Billion for out of pocket expenses incurred during the 2+ year train time. The grand total will cost on the order of 196,000,000,000.00 isk, or to put it another way 250 milllion per day for the next 785 days. I estimate if I hire 10 chinesse on 12 hour shifts working 24/7 at $1.50 an hour plus another $1.00/hour overhead (plus GTCs, hardware, etc.) thats $300 a day or $235,500 for the whole 2+ years. I could limit that expense by hiring more farmers and selling off the change but that would be illegal - The farmers are too so lets just assume I can make that 250mil per day all on my own.
Ok so lets zoom ahead to November 18th 2009, my dream Avatar has just come out of the capital yard and billions of Amaarians accross the galaxy are chearing the day.
Whatever am i going to do with it? I could fly it recklessly into battle and watch 2 hard years go up in smoke...nahhh... Let's face it, it's Amarr and not likely to do so well in PvP. What this baby is meant for is a mobile tradestation. First let me show you the fit:

It's got all your basics like DDD and a jump bridge, something I recommend for every super capital pilot. However, if you want more fire power throw in another laser. See most noob pilots automatically assume if you are flying a Titan with a DDD equip'd. This way you get the benefit of the fear factor with actually having it.
Now the point of this setup is to be a mobile tradestation. What you will do is find a dead end system and more or less anchor yourself to a spot in deap space. be sure and bring lots of secure containers, you will want to anchor them in a ring shape around the crown of the mushroom head. This will serve as your extended cargo capacity for the trade you are about to setup. What you are going to want to do is advertise you are open for business as a trading hub. Use a public channel to take orders manually. There might be a bit of micromanagement involved in trade compared to a normal station, however you can minmize that by either employing the former isk farmers as delivery boyz or you can just keep most of the stuff on the market in a nearby station. When the market goes sour just pickup and move somewhere else. I included a rock scanner in the fit becuase you might get bored from time to time and feel like mining. The rest of the fit is pretty standard as far as tradestations goes.

its completely upto you what you use your Titan for
but if you ever need to releas stress i suppose you could just press the I-Pwned-a-Fleet-of-traders button
anyway, i never heard of a Titan been used for a Mobile TRADE station...
ive heard it being basically used as a mobile station for fleet ops and to activate DD in fleet battles, but upto you mate, i cant reccomend anythin on that type of setup
BTW : make sure you use t2 rigs aswell, since you dont REALLLY want to lose it
PS : where are you gonna setup a trade station.......which system? :P

I don't post rigs, but my guess would be CCC's. As for the expanders I like to use them because you can hold more stuff and in a setup like this you will want to stay versitile and the only way i know to do that is with more stuff.
My last fit will be the Erebus and I plan to do a more conventional approach.

well haven't got to my Erebus setup yet but i quote mined this nice little factoid a few minutes ago... it's the ISD interview with seleene concerning the recent ragnarok loss....

Meh nothing useless about a topic on a titan, lets face it few real titan pilots if theres any out there atm will post their real setup, but a general musing post is sensible and as for the life of eve question is just plain daft, I've played eve for 4 years and it's probably going to be here well forever, I don't see how or why eve would shut down at this point, unless everyone desert's it, which... just isnt to likely to happen, it makes a profit... so it'll carry on going... 2 years is a puny amount of time overall based on the lifespan of mmo's I played Ultima Online for 10 years now for instance :)

i must say i think titans should be more like mobile stations than just mobile weapons.
would be nice to acctualy dock with a titan to fit your ship etc.
also would be nice to die,respawn inside titan,jump in new ship and then undock again.
obv ther would have to be a limit to how many ships it could hold.

iirc shrikes pre-titan nerf setup was something near this. I hear it was 24/s recharge instead of 9s, so probably pdu's fitted here and there and lower meta in some places
