Where do I find what standing I have with my Research Agent? I am starting with a Lvl 1 agent, but her standing does not show up in my standings like regular agents do. I have completed 2 successfull missions for her so far.

You don't really have a personal standing with a R&D agent.
But you can look at the relationships tab on him just like any other agent.

How do I monitor my progress with the R&D agent then? When will I get passed on to a Lvl 2 Agent?

I don't believe you do get passed on. If you want a better R&D agent you need to work for a standard agent to get your standings raised overall for the corp you want. Eventually, through doing the normal agent missions and getting increased standings you'll be able to switch to a better R&D agent.
What I did was look for a corporation that I liked, found the R&D agent I wanted to use, then started doing normal agent missoins to get my standings up to the point where I can use the agent. I've heard that once you start using an R&D agent you can't transfer the research points, so I'm choosing to wait till I can get the agent I want before setting up shop.

Ugh... then why use a lvl 1 agent? Did I make a mistake working with a level 1 agent 1st? Does anyone know how long it takes to get good from a R&D agent? I am just finished my 2nd mission.

You earn 12.6 RP/Day.
No amount of RP = a BP, it is strictly a matter of being entered into a lottery. Supposedly the more RP's you have the more chances you have one getting your name drawn for a BP. Most likely with the field you are going it will be some sort of ship if you manage to get lucky enough.

You work for it first because its the first one you can use. It is neither a mistake nor is it Not a mistake, it just is. If you want to earn more RP per day, you want a higher level agent with better quality, and a higher level skill in the field in which you want to study.

So the only reason to go with a Lvl 2 or 3 R&D agent over a Lvl 1 R&D agent is to gain more RP/day?

could be... don't know. It might be that the better the agent the better BP's are awarded. Try it out and learn by trial and error.
