Edited by: Lore Isander on 14/08/2007 22:36:49 So it's my turn to tell you a tale about a dishonored 1on1.
It started with me roaming around in my Sleipnir, looking for targets and shooting everything I see when I spot two Myrmidons at a gate next to my home system so I kindly ask if either of them would like a Battlecruiser 1on1. No reply from either one so I tell them to come to Itrin if they are interested, no answer.
A few minutes later they show up in local and the other guy says that he goes goes to grab his "PVP Ship", which in this case was a Drake. I was in a Hurricane myself (was pondering whetever I should use a Myrmidon or Cane but I decided to go with Cane, my Myrmidon lacks the DPS to kill a Drake).
After arguing about whetever I would honor my word or not, I do the mistake of agreeing to do the 1on1 at a Planet.
So it starts, I slowly kite the Drake down to 10% shield and in the meanwhile his buddy in a Myrmidon has said he is coming to "spectate". So his buddies warp to the planet (A Ferox and a Myrmidon). Once the Drake enters structure the Myrmidon scrambles me and launchers his Ogre II's so I quickly finish off the Drake and start shooting his Drones off but after a long(ish) and crippling fight (I had ran out of cap boosters), they finaly finish me off.
So yea, I should have expected it, but it doesn't end here just yet.
I dock up (While smacking them a bit to keep them in local, it seems to work nicely :p), Right Click "Hrrr" and select Make Active and press Undock. (Hrrr being my Sleipnir in this case).
I warp to the planet and I see the Drake pilot has returned in a Myrmidon. I exit warp and proceed to shoot the Myrmidon that had shot me after I killed the Drake first. Slowly, but he is going down, the Ferox has warped off in the meanwhile and the other Myrmidon is slowboating away from me.
*POP*
After the other Myrmidon, slowly killing him (Damn tough tanks on these things), entering structure and then the unexpected happens, local jumps by ~10! So my first thought are that he asked even more friends over to dishonor it a bit more, but after a little chitchat with them, it seems they weren't with the 2 Myrmidons and Ferox. And as they interrupted my fight I had to bugger off and the second Myrmidon warped in half structure :(
Got it all on Fraps and I will include it in my next video (when I get around to getting enough footage to make one).
The corp that dishonored this 1on1 was [IAN] Infinity Aeronautics.
Lesson learned, never do a 1on1 at a Planet, no matter what.

My apologies to you and whoever were in your gang for accusing you of being with these scumbacks.
And by the time you guys got there it wasnt a 1on1 anymore, it was just me taking revenge on the bad guys

dude seriously. just don't do 1v1's. it's not like it used to be. The only time i would accept a 1v1 is if i had a large force in the next system waiting in case they dishonored it. if i was solo i just wouldn't bother. too many ppl don't honour them these days.

Only place I would accept a 1vs1 would be in a highsec system where the opponent grabs something from my can, and therefore makes him flagged to me..

I would consider doing a 1v1 if i felt that the other was not a cheater, hard to determine but ya never know.
I think ive had about 10 or so 1v1 all honored, so i guess my scum-o-tron is working properly.
I would of stayed in the sleip. and said ready let's fight... ya this is a BC what are ya a newb... Hells

Anyone that accepts 1v1s is in all honesty either dumb, ignorant of how things work, or just naive. The sooner everyone in eve can get it into their heads that it's just not worth it doing 1v1s, the sooner we will stop having posts like these.
If you're smart you just won't accept 1v1s. I mean, if you have some cordial relationship with someone you want to fight and both sides claim they want to 1v1, then why not take it to SISI? Otherwise, just attack the dude and be done with it. If you're solo and you attack someone else solo, there is your 1v1.
It just blows my mind that people still ask for them and people STILL accept them. Then they come posting in the forums when they're dishonored. BIG SURPRISE. It's only happend 19782340978203 other times. How many blows to the head does it take before you finally understand?
Please understand this isn't an attack at you Lore, but more of a general outcry to please, please just stop. Learn from the mistakes of others. Just don't do 1v1s.
Cheers

I still would like to think some people keep their word....
So if i choose to do a 1v1 and i get gang banged then ill assume all fault.
Then again i would never come on the forums to cry out "this guy does not respect 1v1" i personally dont give a rats a$$.
By the looks of things though most 1v1 are not honored, so people be warned for the hundreth time. Hells

I've had a few 1v1's and i'm probably running about 90% on the success rate (of it staying 1v1, i'm 100% in 1v1 wins:p).
I just keep aware of the situation and have a backup plan should things go south. I also try to stay away from smacktalkers. They seem to be the most prone to dishonoring 1v1's.

Anyway in teh end you had fun right and a story to tell so meh, teh isk lost was isk well spent really and you took one out and chased teh other away so no harm to yer pride either ;)

Edited by: DraggyDissBot on 15/08/2007 22:43:27 This is wierd. This guy in Infinity Aeronautics your speaking of, If it is the person I am thinking of, it is a very rare thing that he would dishonor himself like that. I've trusted and known him for a long time and would trust him with my life in real life so this really shocks me. To at least get to the bottom of this I will ask him some questions, similar to the ones I would like to ask you. If you could answer them I would be greatfull.
Was the 1v1 with the character you posted this with?
Have you ever been in a corporation that had encountered him before?
Was it he who betrayed the 1v1 agreement or was it his corpies that were there?
Could his corpies attacking you be an act of vengence for something a former corp did?
Why did you not do this 1v1 in high sec with a can theft match type of an idea?
I don't blame you if you do not wish to reply with answers but it may help to clear up this matter.
Thank You DDB |

If I challenged someone to a 1v1 it simply wouldn't occur to me to break my word...
I guess some people are...pathetic?
