It's just one of those rules we in the forum community blow off far too often... Since bumping is prohibited - you can possibly get banned.

Well think of it this way - If your/the thread needs a "bump" post to climb to the top of the boards then obviously the interest in your/the thread is low enough that the content is either out of date or not of significant interest to the EVE forum community - making the thread technically irrelevant - and that's o.k. it's happened to the best of the threads. Heck even the highly acclaimed 11 page "EVE Haiku" thread was eventually locked down because it had outlived it's humor / relevancy / purpose. So don't go and get depressed because the forum may not show interest in your/the thread you feel tempted to bump.
Think of this as a "Public Service Announcement" to keep you up and running on the forums.
