Recently I have been hit by an attempted contract scam, I had to think about it as I hadn't seen that before.
it gets listed as [Want to Gift]
basically you sell something in a trade channel, and someone offers to buy it. they then set up a private item exchange contract to you. (to make it look like they are interested) When of course if they truly wanted the items they could just accept your contract.
anyways, in the contract it shows the price your asking, and all the items your selling.
the tricky part is, on a want to buy contract the ISK value should be negative (-) but in the want to gift, it's positive. which means not only will you give them your items, but you will also give them ISK.
it's pretty sad if you've fallen for this but it can happen if your in a rush. never accept a contact from someone you don't know. says that right on the contract start page.
I'm sure ALOT of people know about this. just thought I would make it public for those that don't. please avoid flaming etc.

Another new one I've noticed goes something like:
"Oh my, what a silly girl I've been. I've gone and put a 3.5b capital BPO on contract for 350m! Whatever shall I do?!"
Greedy folks are expected to buy the contract in the hope they got a bargain. In reality, the print is worth 35m.

It is the same mechanism as the "Want to Buy" scam and its use has already been deemed by CCP as an exploit.
Petition it if you see it and that jerk gets banned.
Simple.

Nope you are wrong. It is allowed. Show me where CCP say it is an exploit.

I remeber not so long ago a short news piece about scams in contracts being considered an exploit. I dug around a bit and found:
Quote: loan contract scams are not allowed! reported by GM Grimmi | 2007.07.19 16:12:48 We will take action against those that take advantage of faulty game mechanics that are in place for the Loan Contracts to scam other players out of their hard earned ISK. Action may include warnings and possibly bans.
All the best,
EVE Game Masters
Ao it looks like only the Loan Contracts is deemed an exploit. If anyone can find another ruling by the Gm's then feel free to post below as I only had limited time to look.

The scam he almost fell for, is not with a loan contract but with a item exchange contract. He was selling something, and so the buyer made the item exchange himself but instead of putting the isk in the "i will pay" secstion he put it in "you will pay" section. The seller ends up giving both the ISK and the item. :)
