Damn everytime these guys make microsoft look more like Mother Terisa
"Expectedly, several paragraphs from the "Criticism" section had been removed. All references to the notorious EA-Spouse and other stories about EA's overworked and undercompensated employees have been omitted. A paragraph about the class action lawsuit filed by disgruntled EA employees was edited to say that EA has "led the industry in reforming work/life balance issues that are endemic to the software industry" and that " Since that time, many other game companies have been struck with similar lawsuits."

Did execs from EA and SOE go on a drunken bender @ E3 2000 or 2001 and decide to have a "World's Scummiest Game Company" competition? Some of the crap they pull is so bad that it's practically GOT to be intentional.

I can't remember what it was exactly. But I was watching C-Span, and they were having a community forum of sorts with the founder of Wikipedia, and his name also escapes me right now. But someone asked about PR stuff, and he talked about this not being uncommon, and then sort of the right vs the wrong way to go about it.
So it is amusing this popped up right about now.

Lol. It's not so much the fact they wanted to do it that surprises me (we all knew EA was evil already) but the fact they thought that this pathetic attempt to make themselves look good wasn't going to backfire and make them look even worse

To be honest I think this incident is far more worrying.
At the end of the day EA is a company, these people are meant to uphold the law, run the USA and be accountable for their actions whilst in office.

I think some 60 year old buffers are starting to realize that the internet is going to be dangerous for them...
Expect us to revert to telephony after the US outlaws all internet use (following a strong lobby and making it look like the devil's work) and declares war on everyone that still dares to use it.

So re: EA, I bought my first, and last, EA title in BF2. Nice game, but you know what? WTF is up with all this expansion/add-on crap? I was like wtf, I'm getting killed with stuff they unlocked, and I can't have it unless I buy the add-on and unlock it, and come back? It's like having to buy Eve 2, and Eve 3, to get the Tech 2 and Tech 3 stuff... It was a good game, but damn, EA is greedy. I sense that it has more to do with the suits running the corporation than the actual devs. (I'm 99% sure, in fact) They don't want to support a sleeper hit, they want the flashiest "new thing" that will be a blockbuster game.
re: Wikipedia, read this, and let the information flow. Hey, that's why I bought an internet for.

You're reading far too much into this. It's natural for the vain persons who seek public accolade to micromanage their public image. The real problem lies in the fact that there's nothing else to your elected officials than image. Sweeping privileges granted by the legislative branch to the executive branch, especially at the expense of the judiciary? AWESOME! Executive directorates, specifically those tasked with intelligence and enforcement, no longer governed by the Constitution? It's for our own good. Direct abuses of enumerated rights? Only the terrorists have something to hide, and only traitors burn the flag.
I wouldn't care if it was just Senator Ted Stevens padding his internet-cred by making himself look awesome on Wikipedia or Myspace. I care because he and others pervert the system by which we defend and enrich our nation, and we smile and eat our turd sandwich and exclaim about how lucky we are to be eating this turd instead of some other turd. They sell our country to corporate interests and further their own agendas at the cost of our society. Hang 'em all and start over.

Its just wikipedia....not like they paid reporters to publish positive stories like certain members of the US Executive branch.
EA is a company and it is in their best interests, and the interests of their employees and stockholders to limit the amount of negative information coming out about the company if they can. ------

And when the Democrats are in control, they don't have to pay. The liberal media already fawns all over them...
But yes, it's just Wikipedia... Good for looking up quick information, but it should never be used as a sole source IMO...

My favorite EA moment was when the general manager made the remark that Gears of War has 'zero innovation.' That caused a big flare up all over the internet when people pointed out how EA likes to milk any successful game title for all its worth.

Not to move into politics, but did you pay attention before the Bush administration? The media trashes whoever is in office because it gets them ratings. Doesn't matter what party they are.

You are right, but some deserve it more than others and its up to us to decide who should pay the price, this being the case if Democracy wasn't a shame. There is no real Democracy anymore (if there ever was but its worse now). 1 vote 1 man/woman, proportional representation not the twisted systems that allow the vast gap between rich and poor today.

I can understand why they would want to limit negative info, I honestly can. But why did they remove all references to their founder? Has he been acknowledged as a pawn of Lucifer himself? Is he raping horses and riding off on their women?
It's a great case of, "If we do nothing, nothing will happen. But if we do, we could provoke a ****storm the likes of which we've never seen before. Hey, I know!..."
