Edited by: Heltor on 04/02/2004 19:36:46 I used to have CTD's alot, even reboots. Then I lowerd my memory timing in the bios and haven's had either in like 2 months. The timings were a little faster than default, like CAS 2 instead of 2.5 and Bank Interleave 4, etc. Some games may need the fast timings but Eve is running smoother than ever.
P.S. Of course besides the lag... |

I rarely CTD and if i do it its when i run 2 accounts at the same time and do some heavy market or mission searching on both.

Adding to my address book and organising folders frequently causes CTD.

I haven't been noticing more CTDs but I have seen more 'hangs' especially when I am say rotating my view just as I warp into a gate or doing something similar.

Fiddling with address book has CTD'd me a couple of times now.
Also the nodes today have been wicked to me, in 1 hour I got booted off 5 times.

The last month or so I have had a hard time playing during prime time (anytime there are over about 5000 users), because I have massive lag (3 or 4 minutes to load a new system), and crash every 5-10 minutes. I have checked with my corp mates, and they are not having any problems. During slower times I have no problems.
I am on a cable modem, so I thought maybe my neighbors were creating a lot of traffic, but I have run trace routes when I am having problems, and I get the same kind of numbers as when things are running smooth. Frankly I do not know where the problem is.

I regularly CTD. It happens the most when I activate afterburners/MWDs, or launch drones. And then the game throws in a Visual C++ error at random to keep me on my toes. -------------------- Newbie for life! |

my record this week is 9 ctd's in approx 15 minutes.
how?
people&places ==> places
right click the station where you want to dock, click on dock ==> CTD
then open another client on another drive and the issue is gone for a lil while driving me crazy

Weird, it seems people who didnt CTD before castor now do so, and alot too. and I, who CTD alot before castor, now have no problems... besides going from fullscreen to windowed mode, and starting up in windowed mode... The weirdest **** happens, i get the log in screen, log in, and then the total screen doesnt get bigger than the log-in screen... ------------------------ Remember, my child: Without innocence the cross is only iron, hope is only an illusion & Ocean Soul's nothing but a name...

I only CTD nowadays when I'm doing some hefty 'click around in space' combat against a large NPC spawn. But that's just my PC overhearing and doing a safe reboot.
Haven't had troubles for a long time. My corp mate has only had troubles since Castor tho'.

Same here, I fix it by changing from windowed to fullscreen..
