With the changes to jamming. NPC jammers now behave identically to Player jammers. Previously they had a flat % chance to effect any ship you were currently flying regardless of strength. Now that they're behaving the same way as player jammers, they follow the same jamming formula, which is chance to jam = Jamming Strength / Sensor Strength x100. As you may or may not know, if jamming strength is equal to or higher than your sensor strength, then the resulting jam will hit 100% of the time.
Lets take a look at one of the rats that spawn in minor plexes. I introduce the Taibu State Shruiken, this ship can spawn in the harder minor plexes, and spawns quite frequently in cruiser and battlecruiser sized plexes. It's jamming stats are the following; Gravimetric: 6 Ladar: 7 Magnetometric: 7.5 Radar: 6.5
Previously it had a flat chance of jamming you by 25%, regardless of ship type.
Here is the new 'chance to jam' for this specific NPC against popular t1 frigates/destroyers and faction frigates.
Rifter - Sensor Strength of 8 is jammed 87.5% of the time. Thrasher - Sensor Strength of 9 is jammed 77% of the time. Incusus - Sensor Strength of 9 is jammed 83% of the time. Catalyst - Sensor Strength of 11 is jammed 68% of the time. Kestrel - Sensor Strength of 10 is jammed 60% of the time. Cormorant - Sensor Strength of 12 is jammed 50% of the time. Punisher - Sensor Strength of 9 is jammed 72% of the time. Coercer - Sensor Strength of 10 is jammed 65% of the time.
Dramiel - Sensor Strength of 11 is jammed 64% of the time Cruor - Sensor Strength of 12 is jammed 54% of the time Daredevil - Sensor Strength of 13 is jammed 57% of the time Succubus - Sensor Strength of 13 is jammed 50% of the time Worm - Sensor Strength of 15 is jammed 40% of the time
As you can see all ships are now being jammed significantly more often, also bare in mind that these NPCs often spawn in pairs!! So they will jam much more often than is displayed on this list. This is just the chance of one single Taibu State Shuriken. The chance to jam has increased significantly from the original chance of just 25% (Worst case, Rifter, which is probably the most popular pvp frigate goes from being jammed 1/4 times to being jammed almost 9/10 times!)
Cruisers have become even worse. The State Buke which previously only had a chance of jamming 1% of the time has gone up to jamming around 40% of the time for most cruisers, thats a 40x increase!
Another horrible offender is the Taibu State Daimo. which has a similar chance to jam ships as the previously mentioned frigate does for ships of its class, with the following strengths;
Gravimetric: 9.5 Ladar: 10.5 Magnetometric: 11 Radar: 10
It'll jam most HACs and cruisers upwards of 60% of the time.
State Oshiro, a Battleship which previously only held a 1.25% chance to jam now will jam most BCs and BS 30-40% of the time.
All the other jammers have increased by similar amounts, and you can be expected to be jammed upwards of 80% of time in a ship with average sensor strength. Poor Rifter is jammed 96% of the time, yeah, more than 19/20 times in the hardest minor plex. This is ********. |

At least you can fit ECCM in the hope that it's marginally effective now. A 25% flat jam chance regardless of your ship/fit is broken as all hell. |

I put an ECCM on my drake last night and still stayed perma-jammed through entire missions. Had to go get my myrm to do anything. |

Good day, Genos Occidere:
Thank you for sharing with such details your findings.
Is there a way to find out if this was done intentionally by CCP (and therefore a feature), or if it is a bug?
Is this more limited to Caldari space, or do you believe we will find similar results in other areas of space?
Thank you.

unfortunately, even fitting 2 ECCMs on a rifter will still mean it's jammed more than 25% of the time by aforementioned NPC. Also, 25% jamming chance at least was workable, compared to the ******** 95%+ jams on a drake you'll see now in some of the harder spawns in the harder complexes. Also whats even more ******** is that the NPCs are timer based, and spawn after a set time, so if you get jammed 8 times in a row and can't do anything, and then more jammers spawn... you're screwed.
The caldari plexes have always been the most difficult sites, because of extensive missile use and jammers, and now they are basically impossible solo.
And heaven forbid it ever be possible to actually pvp in one the plexes now. (Which was the whole point in the plexes to begin with).
In fact, even in a Recon ship you'll be worse off than you were before the patch in regardless to the cruiser sized ecm, it's completely broken. |

Caldari plexes have been broken forever. Here's how you get around it.
1. Get an aggro buddy. 2. Use a drone boat.
Please remember to shed many tears for the poor Minmatar pilots in their otherwise overpowered hulls.

I used to just fit 1 ECCM on my pve ishtar, so i could at least get a lock as a Guristas Base for instance can literally have you jammed for fkin ages if you do not lock and get drones out fast enough.
I got jammed less with an ECCM, looks like I will have to drop my drone mods for moar ECCM or rely on CCP's **** poor drone auto aggro mechanics that completely suck |

NPCs tend to end up in a nice little cloud around you.
Smartbombs don't need an established target lock.

Sure you can get around them with an alt, but that isn't really the point. The point is that complexes have always been imbalanced, although not to a game breaking degree. All of the other FW plexes are soloable, why should the Caldari ones now require an alt to take jammers? when the other racial plexes don't, before the patch, Caldari Plexes were already considered to be the toughest and most annoying plexes because of the ewar, now they are almost impossible solo. Bear in mind that these plexes were designed for PVP to take place inside them, how are you going to PvP while permajmmed, or in a ship that has lost 3 midslots to ECCM, or in a smartbomb fitted ship, or even in a drone boat if you can't get a lock and put your drones on the hostile ship. It completely discourages PVP.
