Now before I get started let me say I do understand the basics behind the game mechanics. The biggest issue is the harassment by other players in high security space. These people consistently ram you ships, orbit you close and goad you into going for their little ship with you ore barge. Soon as you do they run back with a battle ship to kill you.
Personally it is wrong and morally it is wrong. I understand that the mechanics of the game allow for this. What it actually is is an exploit of the game mechanics. If nothing can be done about the harassment, then why not change the mechanics a bit. A really good way to remedy this issue would be have all agro wiped once they inter the station. This seems like a fare deal. If they want to act the part of the pirate then let them come do the stealing from their combat ship.
That makes the playing ground more fare. IÆm sure the ones that will have issues with it are more than likely the ones that do it, but something really needs to be done. I can see this as a reason that a lot of people that are new to the game and trying it out donÆt stay. Lets face it, what is fun about being new in the game and mining, and some person comes up and starts harassing you and goads you into shooting at their little ship so they run off. You then go back to mining only to be surprised a few minutes later by a large combat ship blowing up your ship that you have worked hard for. Nothing fun in that and would be an outstanding reason to look some were else for online MMO,s

And this would work for the first 15 seconds it was implemented until people started greifing with it, since it has HUGE potential for exploitation.

Ok like what kind of exploit? I cant think of any off the top of my head. currently they are the ones that are exploiting. As there is no real rules reguarding hurrasment of players.

As I think on it the only exploit I can come up with is the possibility of someone losing kill rights. But this can be remedied also. Simply by setting it up to where if their ship wasnÆt destroyed then agro is wiped if it was destroyed then the kill rights stay. Simple enough.

They steal from your mining ship can in a cruiser (no hope for your ship), you dock to recover your battleship and destroy them.
Ops, no more aggro. The ore is theirs fair and square.

They can still try and steal with a cruiser. But a lot of them use industrials to steal with and to goad you into fighting. Just so they can go back to get the combat ship. What would also be nice is if they made it where you can load directly into a ganged members cargo hold. This would also eliminate the need for some to even use the jet can at all.

Anchor a GSC (perhpas not even giant), set password. You and hauler have password so only the 2 of you have access to the GSC. Ore thief is left with only goating, which you can counter with the block button.
Your suggestion removes the possibility of enforcing your own justice. If I were an ore thief, i would just go to a belt, nick a jet can and dock. Then undock and do it again without absolutely no chance for the poor miners to do anything.

GSC.
1) you are very lucky if you find a space to anchor them in high sec.
2) they are SMALL Giant Secure Containers. Any serious miner will fill one in no time, and the next must be anchored at 5.000+ meters.

In addition CCP will only allow you to anchor in .7 space and lower so the PW cans are out. The password doesnÆt work until they are anchored. I still think the best option is being able to open a gang memberÆs cargo hold and put it in there. That would allow some one with an industrial to be able to follow and load up or do multiple pick up from mining ops.
The only ones this would truly affect would be the Jet-can thieves as they would have less to steal from. But as I have said before there isnÆt much support for making life easier for the miners or the new people just the PVP and thieves aspect you will find support for.

Uhmm...just kill them. I do most times (depending on what ship they are in). A Hulk can carry 5 medium drones and have a solid tank. Cruisers and lower are easy. Battlecruiser...maybe. Battleship forget it.
After you kill them or they get away just dock for 15 minutes and let the timer run out. Good time to go to the bathroom, get a drink and a snack...whatever.

It would be nice if you had a hulk. but an ore barge cant do that. Even then after you kill them they will just go back and get their BS and come back after you anyway.
It is highly annoying and a big problem. but because it has no benifit to PVP and/or is against the thieves, it is not supported. I really wish they had a server that wasnt PVP and had rules reguarding stealing.

Yeah. The whole GSC is immensely broken. There's no way you can anchor one in any belt without spending hours to maybe find a place for it... As long as GSC don't expire they just aren't an option.
It's a bit demanding on the haulers but if they immediately move the ore from the can to the hauler then there's only very little for thieves to steal... This only works though if there are more haulers than needed.
what about this: if someone aggroes you (so that you may kill him) why not make it so that you cannot aggro him. ie: They steal (and begin flashing), you take it back (but then you don't start flashing). Not a perfect solution, I know.
The only really good solution against steal-traps I can think of is if items were to be tagged with ownership. If you jettison some ore or whatever and some thief swaps it to another container it would still be your ore and you (or someone from your corp) could take it back freely.
It would still allow for stealing. Just the unrealistic steal-back traps of today would not work anymore...

Point 1: Yeah, that can be tricky, but mostly I find that people fill the front (towards center) and upper part of the belt, lower and rear are mostly clear. Point 2: Please read what I am answering to. But in short, there are 2 people (1 miner and 1 haluler). Op were asking for a way to dump ore directly into a corp m8's hold, so he could avoid jet can's all togeather. That is one way to avoid jet can's and ore thiefs.

Let the barges or exhumers anchor/seige themselves in place in a belt, whilst in this mode they would be unmoveable and their cargo space would increase to allow them to mine longer without jettisoning ore. It would be nice to allow gangmates the ability to 'open' the 'anchored' barge as if it's a can as well.
Make it take a few minutes to anchor the ship and they would also be more vulnerable to attack as they can't get away.
