I'm loyal to minmatar and can't be bothered to train another race, (currently training large projectile to 5). I'd like to know which minmatar battleship and the set-up is best for level 4 missions. Thx

A pure minmatar has but two choices. Maelstrom(preferred), and typhoon. The Phoon would be armor tanked and require some missile skills, and ofc the Maelstrom would be a shield tanked gunboat, so really it's a matter of where your skills lie.
Personally, I'd say go with a mael, it can be a real mean mission runner when kit out well.
something like:
8x 800mm II
1x XL shield booster II 4x mission specific hardeners 1x heavy electrochemical cap booster(or SBA?)
2x Gyrostabilizer II 3x PDU II
5x T2 medium combat drones 10x T2 light combat drones
3x CCC I

Use the phoon if you dont have good gunnery skills and lack alot of money, mael if you have a good amount of money and good gunnery skills. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. I am minmatar, fly amarr, use gellente drones and am in caldari space. |

I used maelstrom with 1200mm and XL booster/ 2 t2 amps and was boosting 1800 every 5 sec. It has a mean tank and can kill anything pretty fast.

Maelstrom with 8x 1200mm artillery, 4 hardeners, 1 shield boost amplifier, 1 x-large shield booster, 2 dmg mods, 1 dmg control, 2 power diags.
2 falloff rigs.
Thats my mission setup and it works perfectly. I use 10 medium drones in the bay.
Typhoon have slightly higher damage output though, but not a lot, and it doesnt have instant damage either. But I havent tried it. I will when i get t2 siege trained. Not sure if 4x 1200 mm + 4 siege fits, maybe with rigs?

just felt like adding my own maelstrom setup 8)
named 1400mm(no t2 skill) suppose 1200mm II works too without need for fitting mod xl-sbII, shield boost amp II, 3 hardners(usualy 1 inv and 2 specific), target painter 3 gyro II and 2 tracking comp II
drones, 5 med 5 light and some armor rep drones
the painter helps a lot killing frigates/cruisers, the armor rep drones are there to repair drones if theye take damage.
rigs, 1 EM shield resist rig to plug that hole, cant remember other 2 slots ..

Yes I don't know the exact maths behind it but -15% Cap Capacitor and -30% Cap recharge seems to give more cap per second than just a 15% increase if you know what I mean.
Havent bothered looking into it, but recharge is better than more cap aint it?
Either way they are much better on shield tanks for PvE than PDU IIs.
For the guy who uses 1400s, 1200mms seem better for PvE due to better tracking and damage over time (because of the ammo capacity of 1400mms). I think anyway.
