It was amazing the number of corpses being detected. No obvious pattern to them. This was a war zone but the wreckage and the whispers of the ghosts here spoke of a dozen wars. He had entered the ancestral home of his father and found it to be a place of chaos. The Great Wildlands were certainly living up to their name.
His scanners swept the area of space around him looking for clues. Nothing, or at least nothing that stood out. Most of the locals were obviously hostile and had fired at him on sight. He set his comms to a broad wave frequency, hard to triangulate.
“This is Telemicus Thrace of the Ushra’Khan. Defiants, please respond.”
Nothing, static. Perhaps they were out there but maintaining comms silence in case this was a pirates trick. Perhaps the Jove had taken them much as they took Malaetu Shakor so many years ago. The Defiants had a long history with this place, his father’s tribe, the Thukker had made it their home. The answers had to be here. He checked the signal on the comms relay buoy he had released, its small battery still functioned.
“Defiants, please respond. Narrowband signal relay path seven niner khumaak pel one.”
He waited, nothing. Perhaps they had not been keeping up with recent events. Perhaps if they knew they would respond. He was aware that half the galaxy would be able to pick up his signal from any number of relay stations. He considered the options and broadcast again.
“Defiants, please respond. Karishal’s Defiance has fallen, Unity has fallen. Providence has been overrun by slavers. Midular speaks peace with the Ammatars. Brothers, I have come seeking your council. Please respond.”
Perhaps they were as dead as the corpses drifting out there. He heard no familiar whispers amongst these spirits though and that gave him hope. “Defiants, please respond. Narrowband signal relay path seven niner khumaak pel one.”

When was that? When we destroyed the Battlestation in Sosala? Or when we discovered and destroyed your foul breeding pens?
Yes, losing Karishal was a hard blow for the Defiants. Yet I have a hard time remembering just what Amarr were there.
Maybe because no Amarr were there.
I know Ode Goriad. I have flown under his command, and know the measure of the man. Karishal made him his second for a reason. The Defiants are in the Great Wildlands for a reason as well. I believe once that purpose is revealed, nations shall shake.

Oh, I don't know... I think you will find 'Defiants' wandering around upper Profidence almost as if there was no CVA.
A quick check of several organizations public records will soon bring in the realization that Providence is not patrolled by CVA at all.
One could almost wonder why sovereignty has been claimed at all, in systems rarely even visited by the CVA and it's underlings.

Brother,
We have not been blind to the expansion of the Amarr, and the price you have had to pay despite your valiant efforts. It has pained us all greatly not to be able to come to your aid but we are needed here.
But trust in this, the Defiants have not lost our purpose or Karishals forgotten teachings.
We are going to return, and when we do, all hell will follow with us.
Stay true brothers, our people need you.

Your people only need to accept Amarrian enlightenment and their pain will end. Why do you seek to oppose the inevitable? Why do you seek to take the path of most resistance?
Accept our Amarrian mastery, accept our training, allow yourselves to be educated and informed, meet your full potential as contributing citizens of the Amarr Empire and cease this futile resistance which only creates strife and trouble for your people...

Once again you display your ignorance merely by posting on GalNet. It is clear that in your eagerness to slate the CVA and all that we stand for you have decided to ignore those inconvenient little things called facts.
Let's just focus on this weekend - as most would agree it has not long passed.
On Friday CVA pilots were involved in the destruction of:
6 battleships 4 battlercruisers 3 interdictors 2 covert ops 2 recon ships 2 heavy assault cruisers 1 cruiser 1 command ship
On Saturday CVA were involved in the destruction of:
10 battleships 4 heavy assault cruisers 4 interceptors 2 battlecruisers 1 covert ops 1 command shop 1 recon ship 1 interdictor 1 cruiser
On Sunday CVA pilots were involved in the destruction of:
11 battleships 4 cruisers 2 heavy assault cruisers 2 battlecruisers 2 recon ships 2 covert ops 1 command ship 1 interdictor
In summation over just the past three days CVA forces destroyed 81 terrorist and pirate ships (including 27 battleships) in Providence.
I say this not to gloat (we have had our fair share of losses as well) and yes we face challenges (Cruel Intentions and Einherjar Rising, BUM and UShra'khan are all capable pirate/anarchist/terrorist organisations which pose a considerable threat) yet to claim that Originally by: Mattduk Providence is not patrolled by CVA at all
clearly demonstrates either a severe lack of knowledge or a wilful desire to mislead GalNet readers...
CVA is a dedicated Amarrian loyalist organisation and we are focused on our goal of pacifying Providence and having it incorporated into the Amarr Empire.
We have not claimed that task is over, neither have we abandoned our goals. We face many threats but we have the Amarrian grit, determination to overcome any setbacks (and yes setbacks will occur).
Do people raid Providence. Yes they do.
Does every single one of those raids get challenged. No not always - often because our enemies flee like cowards before our Amarrian fleets even arrive.
However hang around for a while and I am sure you will get a chance to be cleansed by our lasers - it is clearly the only 'enlightenment' you will understand, heretic!
As for The Defiants let them come to Providence. They shall spill their blood fruitlessly as do all who oppose the Amarrian Empire...

Very bitter, Matt-duck, to find a way to mention such falicies in nearly every discussion you speak in of late. 80-some kills in Providence over the weekend, against some enemies who publicly admit that do not take the fight directly to the CVA for fear (not the word they use) of our fleets.
Just what plans of yours did the CVA ruin, I wonder?

He drifted through smoke. The drums rhythmic in his head. Out of the smoke he saw his fathers face, as he remembered him from his childhood. A ghostly face in the smoke against a backdrop of stars. Stars that became a constellation, one until now he had only seen drawn in the sands of Mabnen.
“These stars son, these will guide you to our home”
He was here, in the heartland of his fathers bloodkin. He felt the drums, he felt the pulse of their will. Wild, chaotic, free in every way. Then a melody, faint but clear. A melody that spoke of order, of stability against the dark. Stability at the price of living in a cage of security drones and defensive perimeters. His gaze passed over the strain coming from Republic space. There was a deeper note. A mournful yet hopeful tune. A deep rhythmic beat, half hidden yet proud in it’s own cautious way. A sorrow strain sung by the hearts of a million slaves held in the labour camps of the Amarr. Beneath all of this was the drum beat, they were all unified in this single rhythm, differing strains but all of one song. The blood song of the Matari.
The alarm woke him with a start along with the half heard spirit screams of the recently dead of this place. His cabin was bathed in red light and the droning of a wake up signal. He paused for a moment while he remembered the name of this ships AI core.
“B.O.S.U.N, report”
“Signal detected on signal relay path seven niner khumaak pel one. IDC confirmed as Defiants. Backtrace failed, source of signal unknown.”
His heart skipped a beat, he had made contact. It was a signal burst, not realtime.
“Replay signal”

He had made contact, a lump formed in his throat. Tears welled in his eyes. The strain of months of fighting overwhealming odds only now coming to the surface. He replayed the message, nothing solid, no dates, no plan. Just the vague hope that the Defiants were still alive and still out there. The sorrow strain gripped him for a moment. He picked up the mic and began recording his response.
“Brothers, you are alive. We were overrun, we were vastly outnumbered and outgunned. The evacuation was costly, many perished. When the time comes that these men can be honoured carve the names Agrus Kassin and Kiyamvir Ma'ar on the rock of memory. These men and many others of the station crew gave their lives holding the line so that the majority of our civilian population could escape the slavers camps.”
“We saved all we could. Medical supplies were in short supply. Ammunition was scarce. We did all we could Brother but there were just so many of them.”
He paused to sob openly at the memory. The lists of missing presumed dead or enslaved running through his memory. The memory of the ghost faces of the fallen and the rain of blood. Tears streaked his face as he drew in a long draght of air.
Then he heard it, the sorrow strain from his dream. Mournful yet filled with hope. This was a tune he knew well having been a slave himself. It had taken this place and it’s wild untamed spirits to put it into contrast. Hope against hope. War against the odds. He took a deep breath to steady his voice and took up the mic again. ....

“We give thanks for the Thukker tribe and those most unlikely allies that stood by us in the darkest of times. They are all wild and untamable, much as warriors should be, for that is freedom. The surviving civilian population is well housed now and our technicians are working with the Thukker Mix to produce all manner of new weaponry in the fight for freedom. We are regaining our strength Brother, slowly but surely. Too many depend on us to allow us to falter. Knowing you are out there gives us hope. If you need us you know but to call. In the meantime Brothers I will await the call and look forward to riding the winds of hell with you. Thrace out.”
He considered deleting the first part of the message but decided against it. It was truth and there was no shame in truth. Let the galaxy judge him and be damned. He hit the transmit control and listened to the staccato of data being spread across the galaxy.
“B.O.S.U.N, set course for Echo Point Relay. Send following, all bandwidths, all relays.”

I'll be watching to see precisely what it is that Ushra'Khan and the Defiants wish to accomplish; it would be ignorant to claim they've not proved effective allies in the past.

The blot of darkness that was the Defiants is fading from this cluster. It is time the rebels accept that the Defiants used them and ran.
The rebels have turned from any sensible cause. Piracy and angry words now make up their daily lives. Is it any wonder that the sensible people of this star cluster now reject them?

Why repeat them then slave?
Mattduk (an Ushra'khan ally) has been spending copious amounts of time smearing CVA. It was he who decided to bring us into this discussion. If you don't want us to respond then please ask him to refrain or at least post his propoganda elsewhere on Galnet.
The use of kill statistics here was simply to demonstrate the falsity of his arguement about CVA patrols (or lack of them in Providence). I also note that kill statistics have been used before by many organisations at times including, amongst others, Ushra'khan and your anarchist friends in Star Fraction.
Neverthless, maybe I should know better than to respond to the provocation of heretical heathens, and will therefore bow out of this discussion. I will however repeat my comments about The Defiants as they are most relevant to this discussion.

As much as I despise the grubworm slavers and thought that my disdain knew no bounds, chest-beating such as we see here from CVA lead me to believe that there are further depths of craven egotism for them to explore. The bleating from their gaping, putrescent maws once struck at least a dissonant chord of honor, but now their shrill cries say nothing more than, "Look at me and how fat I have become off of the labor of others! See these juicy rolls of flesh cascading from my carapace!" Learn from those in PIE that spawned you and show some respect for those that follow a noble path, however contrary to yours.

...did you miss the part where we were accused of "not patrolling Providence at all?" The CVA does not come to the summit blaring every kill, every positive battle result, and the CVA most certainly does not accuse our enemies of being inactive. The CVA does, however, bring the truth of the matter to light when baseless insults are levelled at us.
If Matt-duck has a problem with it, Matt-duck can join up with ENH fleets and actually take part in destroying CVA vessels. In the mean time, if he wishes to bring up the CVA in every discussion on this Summit, then the rest of the Summit can just deal with it when facts are presented by CVA representatives to counter his mistaken perceptions. Or perhaps the rest of the Summit can peer out his trolling...?
Nah, too much to hope for.
