Who's the youngest player in eve,I think I might be the youngest one and I don't like the feeling that everyone in the game is older than me. (I'm only 12 =/)

Yeah the vast majority of EVE players are much older. I seem to remember it being stated that the average age was something like 27. It's just the kind of game that doesn't appeal to most younger people in the same way as WoW and that do (damn there are a lot of 12/13 year olds in WoW And they are almost all the stereotype of that age group too).
I'd say that you may find there are other people of your age or very close, but to be honest not that many. Don't let it bother you though, no one is really going to care as long as you don't act like a ******

Possibly.
Regardless, you'll be fine here so long as you act mature enough .

LF, you're only 12!?
Oh well. Age's nothing but a number, I've seen plenty of persons many years older than you acting very out of line ^^.

Edited by: LF9000 on 19/08/2007 21:59:03 Yes I know I'm rather young, but know this, I'm not one of those ****** ten year olds you find on counter-strike who spam the server with thier oh so annoying high pitched voices, who feel the need to say "I own" whenever they manage to kill someone while the others are hardened veterans. When I started I was only 11, and the learning curve was very, very high, and I ended up shield tank an amarr ship . Now I fly a ugly raven, and I do missions with my corp mates. :D

Someone on these forums (forget the name) is running around with a siggy that I completely agree with:
Getting older is manditory, growing up is entirely optional
So something like that. Basicly, remember its a game, be kind, and dont throw a temper tanptrum and you will be well recieved.

Oh that Angry German Kid.... He was in our corp, but we kicked him out, watched where he went to, and then War Dec'd em
As to the OP, 12 is probably on the younger side to EVE's majority age average. It is a very complex game, with alot of math, and a steep learning curve. On the average younger players seem to enjoy a different style game play. I wouldn't worry though as you seem to be well spoken, and no one will hold it over your head for being 12, how you act is how your judged.
Unless of course your topic was to find like aged players to fly alongside...

You should really take care of your kid instead of learning him to play the computer. It's called quality time, not quantity. --- Compare items ? Image 1 - Image 2 Thanks to Daetusk. |

While your terror is understandable, I hope that you realise that this video is a fake. The same kid actually turns up in a lot of other clips (where he's behaving just as nuts as in the one you've linked but differently... making it very clear that it is a fake)
Staying more on topic, I don't really get why the OP is bothered by the fact that he/she might possibly be the youngest player in EVE. If he/she does enjoy the game at that age, he/she has already figured out that maybe he/she does have different interests than most other kids at that age...
Saying it more blunlty... yes, you are at least partially a freak for playing EVE, but you're not any worse than most others playing the game

Errr... its 2007 right? The ability to use a computer competently is practically mandatory for any job that doesn't involve breaking rocks into smaller rocks.
Teaching children to use a tool that they are going to have to grow up and deal with on a daily basis for the rest of their lives is a big deal.
And besides, what is it that stops time spent together gaming automatically not "quality time"? *** Thats a Templar, the amarr fighter. Its a combat drone used by carriers. |

(and most of the related videos)
Mind you, I don't suggest that he is completely sane or any less mental than on the angry kid video. But having seen some of his other clips makes it rather obvious that it's a fake. And yes, i'm sure that there are kids out there behaving like that allright. However it is pretty unlikely to catch em in such a perfect way (he's taking appart pretty much anything on his desk but the webcam remains completely untouched?).
Edit: corrected the link

This probably doesnt count, I have had my 11yr old son help me mining a few times (on trial accounts of course, as I cannot share my REAL accounts with him, or even my wife, as that is a breach of the EULA <cough>).
Anyhow.. He seems to be interested in playing, but seems to like halflife more . -=^=-

I started a thread a few days ago about "older" rookie players and then just yesterday found out that one of our members who is very self-possessed and already has a real solid grasp of a lot of the game is only 14 . His voice on TS gave it away . he claims that puberty has already kicked in and that we should all be able to tell by his voice. We all got a good laugh out of that. I think puberty isn't finished with him yet .
Anyway. It just goes to show you how little RL age matters. This young man is a great corp member and someone we all know we can count on. Kudos to all the young players here in the down and dirty world of EVE.

Your diffanatly at the bottom of the barrel (doesn't mean your the absoulte youngest, but not far from it).
A game like this though, it doesn't matter how old you are, its how old you act.
I'm 21 and am usually mistaken for a 40 year old married man with 2 kids...
As long as you don't make it a big deal, its not one.

I have definitely heard of other EVE players who were around 12/13. Not too common, but definitely exists. You may want to post in "Out of Pod Experience" to ask people there if they are close to your age. That's where people are generally supposed to post about Real Life stuff. ----------------------------------------------------

i'm 15 and i'm the CEO of my own corp, with everybody being older than me! :)
I've seen people a lot worse than me who are older doing and saying... rude things in local. Glad i've broken the stereotypical persona of being loud, drunk, and full of sh*t!
