Edited by: welsh wizard on 19/08/2007 13:49:55 I like its alternative role a gang blaster/tank ship. A damage bonus at fleet range would be nice but I think it'd get pigeonholed into one rarely used role without its resist bonus.
The resist bonus is an advantage in fleet anyway, albeit a small one.

why tracking bonuses?
It's a sniper ships. It's made to be used at long ranges. And at long ranges, Tracking is not very important, since transversal is so low. Tracking is more useful on a short range ship.
Instead, the Resistance bonus allows it to skimp somewhat on Defence mods, allowing you to fit more sensor boosters for range, or even Ewar modules, while keeping a deent tank.

because with a ROF bonus the ship becomes unstopable, during testing the Drake had RoF bonus and shield resistance, if u then fitted it with HAMs u had an unstoppable killing machine and an insane tank

Agreed... especially when at 150km or more, you can warp to the sniper, at a range you can dictate, nullifying the sniper's advantage. _________

Yeah.. of course... it could deal more damage than the hyperion at sniping... how dare you to suggest that the caldari sniper should deal more damage than the gallente blasterboat at 180km?

That was only because HAMs were horrible overpowered initially on sisi. The drake with RoF replacing the current resist bonus would make it more gank/less tank which was what the tier2 BC were supposed to be in the first place. The Myrm needs to lose its rep bonus as well.
As far as the Rokh range/damage would basically destroy any other sniper boat and be very unbalanced.

I cant see your point, it would deal more damage at ranges than the hyperion... UUHH surprise the sniper shipe does more damage at ranges \07
Now compare the hyperion in close range after the rokh lost its resistance bonus, its faster, gets repairing bonus and bigger drone bay (ok only twice as much )

I like the rokh the way it is
if it got a range bonus and a damage bonus it would be extremely overpowered. I think the problem with the rokh lies in two areas... the main problem for it is t2 ammo. 2 sniping ammo allows the other battleships to snipe to amost 250km... the max locking distance. I think they should remove t2 ammo from the game and adjust the damage bonus the comp skills give. Or they should remove the 250k lock range cap because the rokh can't shoot its maximum range, its kinda like having a dps cap on gallente blaster boats.

Removing the locking range cap wouldnt make any difference, since it is pretty much impossible to set up warpin point at 300km+ in short time most of the time.
Removing the t2 long range ammo would boost all caldari ship very hard, i dont think that will ever happen,

rohk with a damage bonus would out damage a hype at any range assuming same equips/skills. aside from damage with shortest range ammo within optimal of the hype. At longer ranges the rohk can use antimatter when the hype uses plutonium, or tungsten instead of iron.
and how did the drake compare to the myrmi with the rof bonus instead of the resist bonus?

Oh, you mean as opposed to the Myrmidon, which still has a similar tank both as passive shield or active armor (actually, even a better one if you dedicate all slots to it), deals more damage (or can fit NOS instead of extra damage for an even more amazing tank), and can also fit tackle gear ? Oh, right, I always forget, Gallente ships are supposed to be overpowered in PvP.
As for the Drake, the best bonuses it can get, and SHOULD get, are those identical to the Raven. Namely, assault/heavy/heavy assault bonuses of 5% launcher RoF and 10% missile velocity.
Even so, it STILL wouldn't be an unstoppable killing machine. Killing machine, maybe, but tier2 BCs are SUPPOSED to be "ganky, not tanky". So, killing machine ? Maybe. Unstoppable ? Hardly.

Well you forgot some "small" hidden advantages the hyperion got:
1) twice the drone bay 2) 30% faster with a T2 MWD 3) armor tank (with a BIG bonus especially after the rokh would have lost the resistance bonus) 4) faster locking time 5) higher agility

Edited by: Kamen on 20/08/2007 08:32:28 The range bonus on the rokh is quite odd. With proper snipe fit it shoots beyond 250km, which is max locking range, a range which is never used in fleets. If I was to omit the tracking computers, I lose needed tracking. If I was to use the "100km antimatter advantage", there would be VERY few situations in which I could actually make use of it.
In simple words, I would say, just drop the range bonus altogether or rethink bonuses so that they actually make sense. ------------------------------------------------ (Recruiting ad) SRBI regrutuju! Dodjite na nas javni SRBI kanal. |
