Am just wondering wheter anyone has any interesting war stories to share? Both 1 vs 1 or fleet battles...
I have yet to experience PVP (think am about 2 weeks old into the game so... yeah) - and am kinda curious how them fleet battles work, or don't work....

Edited by: Malarki Cheddar on 19/08/2007 15:14:00 I was headed home you see, out in lawless space. A grand adventure was sure to take place.
Then I jumped through a gate and 20 people insta-popped me and lag caused them to get my pod too.
Maybe tomorrow.

Got one.
Not the best at losec or pvp, in fact, not good at all, but occasionally have to go to that place. One day was trying to bust through a gate camp in a crappy imicus fitted with nothing but inertia stabilizers. Right when I had to select the jumpgate and warp, my cat jumped on the desk and onto the mouse, causing a nasty misclick. Fooom! Dead.
Threw the cat out the air lock.

Not really my story, but I watched a Rifter take out a Hurricane. T1 fitted too...
Always fun to get lucky and have the perfect fitting when you come across a chance encounter. Rifter vs Interceptor. I'm sitting there with T1 guns, he's blasting me with T2. Web + Tracking disruptor and he was ****ing himself when he got into hull. Too bad his buddy came in finally and put the finishing touches on me. Ohh well it was a good fight.

This one is going back several years now and I was not a part of it but it is a classic.
Some corp got word that a large fleet of frigates was coming in to cause trouble (this is back when there really was not much more than frigates/cruiser/battleships so a frigate fleet could indeed cause trouble).
So, some guy fits a Bombathron (think it was a smartbombing Megathron, might have been an Apocalypse) and sat himself in a belt. You can already see what is coming...
Frigate fleet warps in to the belt and landed smack on top of the Bombathron. In about 10 seconds the guy popped and podded some 30 pilots (somehow I think two frigs escaped annihilation).
Was a classic moment in EVE. Even the frig pilots had a laugh at it after the shock wore off.

I'll give you a short summary of one .
I brought a group of battlecruisers, two interceptors, and my interdictor (a Sabre) out from EC-P8R, and started heading up towards Triumvirate's "home system" of YAO- (we're anti-territorialist, by the way ).
Along the way, we gank a few random passerbys, and we get there - we send a bait Drake to their station to lure some of them out while keeping an eye on their other system two jumps out. Instead, I get a report that a group of about thirteen drunken cruisers comes into system and starts attacking our guy, so I pull them in and we obliterate them without losses, although they got the Drake down quite low.
We get rumblings from the locals about getting out of their home, and have reports of about 5 of them coming out of VFK- and heading towards YAO-. We pull back to the gate they're going to come in through, put bait on the other side and leave a sentry at their station we just fought at to try and delay their heavy forces that would likely try and use a pincer manuever on us. They fall for the bait, and we move in - quickly, we nail an Eos, Armageddon, a cyno-fit Ishkur, and a Raven before we were alerted by our sentry their friends were coming and going to lay the smackdown - by that time, they were still reinforcing from the other system and we were taking losses, so we bailed just as they came in for the kill. Killed a CBC, 2 BSs, AF, and another BC of theirs before we bailed out for 3 BCs and an interceptor or so, and used our superior speed to start hauling ass towards our forward base in Torrinos.
So, we're hauling ass, and almost everyone's out of the system and on the road back home, but they're starting to enter the system and pursue us, so I sacrifice the bait Drake to buy us time to haul ass - its successful, and we trade that BC for the remainder of the force.
So, all in all not bad. Not pleased about the Drake sacrifice, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and trade one for many. Its very fun, you should try PvP, just remember, the smaller the better quality it is - it takes less numbers and more brains to do it right when small.

One more story, since this one's pretty funny .
We're up in Venal with an interceptor gang and two pods of people that got killed earlier, running from a 50 man blob down in M-O in Tribute. So, we have them dock up, get frigates and some MWDs for travel back to Torrinos while we chill in the neighboring system.
We have two people come into system, a Flycatcher and a Vindicator. The latter is a faction battleship based off the model of the Megathron, so our gang leader says "eh, its a Vindicator, they're not known for killing frigates...", and jumps into our system where those two are camping the gate. Bubble gets dropped, meaning they have to MWD out of the bubble to warp to us - our gang leader suddenly screams over Vent "holy crap! That's a nanoVindicator with smartbombs!", and quickly got killed and podded back to the forward base.
The survivors laughed their ass off as we warped off to a safe to regroup. We said a few times on Vent his now infamous line of "Vindicators aren't meant for killing frigates", and even said it a time or two in local chat to which the ship's pilot had a good laugh to. Needless to say, it was quite amusing .
Almost as good as the time where we were fighting another, smaller BS fleet at sniping ranges, and he primaried an Osprey. That's what spawned this graphic (look at the background text ).

The best place to find "war stories" is really in the Videos forum. Look for videos with long (3+ page) threads - those are usually the most popular ones. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

You can go to www.eve-tribune.com for some good articles. There are player stories there too, some tales of war, some of treachery and deceit, others of good-hearted heroes... well, not so many of the last, but hey, you could do one on those --- Compare items ?
