Has a problem arisen with probes?
Today I went probing for grav sites. Now I know that each probe has a chance of finding other sites yet the multispec probe said that there was only gravimetric areas present so I wasnt expecting combat. I get my results and there are 6 deadspace locations. Im thinking, okay, this is a bit odd. I warp to them and nearly every single one of them im being shot at. I warp away and go to another system, looking for the same thing, get the same result, all combat and no rocks.
So my question is this, is something messed up or did they recently change something so that your attacked every step of the way with probing because I was only using quest probes and landing right smack in the middle of the deadspace locations.

Probably not messed up. From what I heard, there are supposed to be Lower level sites that people can find with their onboard scanner. You probes are able to pick them up as well.

Edited by: Venkul Mul on 20/08/2007 08:38:28 True Krytie, but they should appear on the multispectral probe as unknow sites.
Anubis, if you had unknow signatures and then the quest did find high signatures sites with strenght >1 then you have meet encounter sites. They can be easily picked up with any probe.
If you hadn't encounter sites it is a bit odd.

DidnÆt do any scanning since the onboard changes, but this is what I will do since now all complexes are all hidden and can be found using on-board scanners. Make a book mark from the location of the place you found, and scan in its direction using your on-board scanner, it it shows up then its not what your looking for.
On another note make sure whatÆs the strength of the signature, you found if its very high then its probably a normal complex

Addition:
Most Grav sites alltogh thy are belts will have rats, never found one without rats and NPCs. But still I think your finding the normal complexs and not the grav signs your looking for

Yeah after spending some time in the Exploration channel I found out that those sites are infact those crap sites that CCP put in for the onboard scanner (when I say crap sites, I mean ive done cargo runs that were more dangerous when I wasnt in a defenseless covert opts ship).
It would seem that they are fairly easy to track down and the way I was finally able to tell it apart from the grav site I was looking for was when I finally got a beat, the grav site's icon was red were as the others were green. Still, and this may sound like a whine, there should be some way to filter them out as I was completely caught off guard and in one instance nearly lost my ship. I mean, I know better now but anyone who isnt aware of this is in for a very rude awakening if they are using a covert ops ship without a cloak engaged (being in empire and my past experience told me that I didnt have to worry).
