Ok, first up let me acknowledge that I'm not above a bit of robust forum banter myself, and after a rubbish day at the office there's nothing like a bit of verbal sparring to let off a bit of steam.
But in the last few weeks these forums really have hit an epic low. In recent days I've fired up the old cosmic-space-interweb and been confronted by ****ographic photos, pretty savage personal abuse, insane amounts of slander, homophobia, homoerotica, senseless spammage, racism and - even worse - references to Celine Dion.
I've played this game since launch, and I've always been fiercely proud of the community we're all a part of. This particular little chunk of the information superhighway has usually been a mature, entertaining, and constructive place to pass the time.
If you want to post crap then there are countless places you can do it. If you're the kind of person who likes to post the aformentioned nonsense then I'm sure you know where those places are.
Eve is a game that's enjoyed by young and old from across the world. In my view there should always be a place for a bit of argy bargy in this game - it's a PVP game after all. I've often been caught up in the fisticuffs myself. But surely the kind of junk we've seen recently doesn't add to the game in any way, shape or form. I'd like to appeal to CEOs, alliance leaders, corp mates and - most importantly - CCP to take robust action against repeat offenders. There's a hell of a difference between fighting talk and outright offence.
It's our community, and we'll end up with the forum that we deserve. If we carry on the way we are, it's only a matter of time before Queen News takes over as chief moderator.
