Hi all - 1.5 week old n00b here, so forgive me if this is a dumb question:
Looking to set up my Gallente Exequror cruiser for missions & mining. I'd like your input for mission running, as I'm really clueless as to what weapons/ammo/modules I need to use. (I'm pretty well set for mining)
I'd like to leave one high slot open on missions for a Miner II - so I can mine/jettison/bookmark the higher quality or that can sometimes be found.
So, what to use? Fittings for the ship: Powergrid: 500 MW Lowslots: 3 Medslots: 4 Hislots: 4 (3 with mining rig) Cpuoutput: 250 (287.5 currently w/skills) Launcher hardpoints: 0 Turret hardpoints: 4
I've got gunnery at level 2 (working on 3), but really have no clue what I need to be using. Any help is highly appreciated.

Exqueror is a great support ship, but lousy mission-runner, especially for a rookie...get a vexor or thorax for running missions, then come back in your exqueror to salvage/loot/mine. My advice is to build up drone skills and get a vexor...let your drones do the work and you can fit your ship with lots of defensive tanking gear until you get the hang of things (thorax is a better mission ship IMHO but takes more skill to use it effectively as its more offensive in nature)
Search the forums (better yet, use www.eve-search.com)and you can find plenty of setups for any ship (i'd give suggestions but im tired and going to bed) ☼☼☼ Don't even THINK about it rookie...I have all my capacitor and more hit points than you can POSSIBLY imagine. ☼☼☼

for lvl 1 missions you will be better off with a catalyst destroyer, it has some good boni for small hybrid guns & you will find you'll kill things much much quicker. Also I seem to remember you aren't allowed into some dead space areas in level 1 missions in a cruiser sized ship.
If you want to stick with your exequror though I would fit out something like the following (presuming you have only small hybrid skills):
4x 150mm rails 1x 10mn afterburner, 3x cap recharger 1x medium armor rep, 2x adaptive plating hardners
the hardners you use will depend on your skills, there are passive or energized hardners. Only use the passive hardners if you don't have the skills for energized as they are better.
If you find something you want to mine I would bookmark it and refit at the station in a full mining fit out. It will be alot quicker in the long run than mining with 1 laser.

Exequror is an okay newbie mining ship but not so good at mission running.
Ideally for level 2 missions I would recommend a Vexor, however if all you can afford right now is the Exequror (and I remember when it was all I could afford) then here are some suggestions:
HI: As many medium railguns as you can fit (ideally 200s or 250s) or 2 mediums and 2 light rails (150s) if you are having to deal with lots of frigates. Get the best named you can afford (scout and compressed coil are good and not as expensive as gauss for a newbie). MED: Afterburner, Webifier, Cap rechargers / boosters - alternatively large shield extenders and a booster (although Gallente are armor tankers for beginning PvE these 4 mid-slots let you fit a big passive shield tank) LOWS: Biggest plate you can fit (ideally 800 mm) unless shield tanking, small/medium armor repper, cargo expanders / damage mod
As many medium drones as you can fit OR 3 Meds and 2 lights if you have drone control 5
Don't waste your time mining in missions. Just move on to the next mission.

Edited by: Kathira on 22/08/2007 08:51:14 One for thinking outside the box / preparing for a passive Myrmidon.
Exequror
280mm Howitzer Artillery I [11xPhased Plasma S] 280mm Howitzer Artillery I [11xPhased Plasma S] 280mm Howitzer Artillery I [11xPhased Plasma S] 280mm Howitzer Artillery I [11xPhased Plasma S] When you use small weapons and are low on capacitor recharge then the best is to use arties/autocannons.
Large Shield Extender I Large Shield Extender I Large Shield Extender I Invulnerability Field I
Shield Power Relay I Shield Power Relay I Power Diagnostic System I
With 4 med and 3 low slots its a nice passive armortanker. It should be tank better than an armortanked one. If you plan to got the myrmidon way than a passive tank fitting is a way of training up to myrmidon.
Rigs : Empty Slot \ Empty Slot \ Empty Slot \ Hammerhead I Hammerhead I Hammerhead I Hobgoblin II Hobgoblin II
Drones are a must have for gallente.
8481 shield, 38.2/s, E/T/K/Ex=25/39/54/69 1466 armor, E/T/K/Ex=59/35/35/10 1299.9999523162842 cap, +7.07/s, -4.0/s 213.0 m/s 117.3 DPS
8 k shield is a nice buffer and the rechargerate at 30 % should give a nice permatank.
I only took t1 standard stuff .. You can upgrade this easy with named stuff ... Btw. the ship has not enough powergrid to fit a rack of medium weapons and a proper tank so if you want to make missions .. the tank is the way to go.

Yeah, best off going with a Vexor/T-Rax for missions, though that passive shields arty Exequror sounds like an interesting idea. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |
