What's the best ship in game for utterly fast, sustained speed.. non-warpdrive of course. :)
I have a punisher with 2 MWD's and 4 cap power relay 1's in the loslots.
That gives me 7605m/s for about 5-8 minutes.
Besides the obvious solution of fitting the odd named/rare cap relay or MWD, is there anything else?
Relevant skills are up to atleast level 4. Yes, I know I can train to 5, etc.
Thanks!

im assuming you trained navigation, afterburner and fuel consumption to high levels ...??? that should sustain speed/duration of boosters etc ??

I have achieved average speeds of 5.5km/s using a BB with 3 10mn mwd, 3 med cap batteries, and 2 cap relays. With my skills I activate the 3 mwd every 45 sec and go about 330km per minute (hence the 5.5km/s average speed)

The fastest ships in the game belong to minmatar. Amarr comes in 2nd I believe.
Picking a ship (besides the indy) with a ship speed bonus would also help. Not sure if minmatar has something like that or not.

Rifter has a speed bonus per level.
With 2 MWDs you can push 20km/s.. though i doubt you could sustain it at all. perhaps with all relevant skills maxxed and the best possible setup , but seems unlikley with only 2 midslots.

Edited by: Pharuan on 08/02/2004 02:28:25 I can go 24k m/s in my vigil for two bursts. That is really all you need. then a few seconds later you can do it all over again.

Edited by: Shamis Orzoz on 08/02/2004 06:19:52 Punisher is probably the best ship for long trips. I can sustain over 8000m/s in my punisher forever. With 2 normal MWD's and cap relays on the low slots.
I'm trying to figure out a way to get my blackbird to perform better. I can get short bursts of speed up to 19km/s, but I can't maintain it for long, so ultimately the punisher does better.
I haven't experimented much with high speed rifter or vigil layouts, but they might be good, except vigil only has like 1 low slot and rifter isn't much better.
I think the new interceptors that are just starting to appear should be able to sustain speeds of at least 20km/s forever. It will be nice for finding safe spots.
Of course all of this is based on very good Nav and Engineering skills.

best sustained speed for me is a rifter fitted with a 10mn ab and 2 overdrives in lo slots
gets me about 2500m/s forever
plus you dont get the cap/sheild nerf that using a mwd gets you

The vigil is also the only ship that can be faster then a shuttle without the use of abs/mwds -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

HA i can get a probe or rifter up to 12500 for about ten seconds ,but by then you cant even see the point you started at.Ihad a station 500m behind me ten seconds ago and now nothing not even a cursor. what diffence does it make you only need to get about 50km in 12 seconds and you are about safe from just about anything.

My bad, I was thinking about the griffon. But the vigil still lacks the ability to run 2 microwarpdrives forever because of its low powergrid which will require you to waste atleast 1 low slot on power. Leaving you only 2 more for cap relay's. Not good enough.

This topic is about sustainable speed. 12.5km/s is decent, but in the long run somebody that can go 5-10km/s non stop will get much further. And the purpose of this is to find people that are thousands of km away from you. Quite handy when you are tracking down safe spots.
