It's a crappier version of EVE. No economy, no player-made structures, no organization outside of clans. FAIL.

It's being developed by the Neocron folks. I have no faith in that company to release a game worth playing, but hey, they could surprise me. We're free to speculate all we want, but until a playable beta is released, don't get your hopes up. When and if we see some viable product appear, then you're free to make up your mind.

Neocron 1 was great, Neocron 2 was utter crap. Do not underestimate Reakktor's ability to take a good idea and turn it into rubbish.

From their screenshots - the only real thing I like is the athmospheres the planets have - makes them look more realistic, but that is about it.

I might sign up for the beta of this game. On top of EVE, I play a lot of the X games, for example. I'll let y'all know what I think.
still, I can tell you one thing it definitely won't have - EVE's population. all those people, all fighting over all that space is something only this game can provide.

Nice shots, be nice to see some more variety. Kinda looks a little like X3 from those ones.
Whether it's an Eve-beater remains to be seen, of course, and its unlikely. It'll take a very interesting (and hardcore!) game to drag most of us lot away from here, but its great to see new sci-fi games being developed instead of more tolkein-clones.

Just because it's in space and online, does not mean it's an eve rip off 
Gfx look kewl, but there's not much else going on there atm. Maybe all the carebears will flock over to it so they can mine in peace

Top 800 people in a 'shared slide show' and I'll be impressed.
edit: The screen shots do look pretty sweet. I'm pretty sure CCP has something sweet up its sleeve.

Looks like an attempt to mimic but at this point we're going to say any space MMO that focuses on spaceships and PVP is copying EVE.
We'll see...I would rather see a real time flight simulator type of game with capital ships etc. duking it out (Star Trek Bridge Commander kind of). I like actually flying ships and firing manually and like...flying...

I would agree to that. Anyway, I wish them good luck. I was an Neocron addict and if the initial dev team would have kept working on it, it might have had a bright future.
But it appeared to me that at some point only a few months after Neocron 1 retail start, after some of the delayed features like vehicles were finally finished, most professional programmers were fired or had left and the remaining dev staff was just to small to continue to develop the game.
Instead they rather screwed some things up and then Neocron 2 was x-times delayed and in the end disappointing and not so fun.
Can only hope, they don't make the same mistakes again.

Here is one thing: WoW is a big copy of almost every game and now Bliz has 9mil subscribers.
So if someone mimics correct, Eve could die easily. ("die" I mean having low population of subscribers)
