One of the things that has come up on our Alliance & Corporate forums has been a way to single out individuals by awarding them with medals of service. Obviously, this is not a feature of EVE currently but could be assigned in much the same manner as corporate titles are against a Character's bio.
An example of how to do this would be...
In the "Corporation" - "Members" tab, a sub-tab called "Medal Management" would contain a set of pre-gen images for the "Medals" that can have titles defined for them. When you edit "Member Details", there would be a tab that lists the medals (and that corporation's titles for each medal) and a checkbox against each for assigning the medal to that character.
The display of these medals would be in the "Character Information" screen, in the space between the characters "Member of..." corporation and the "For x months and y days" line. Hovering your cursor over a medal will display a label detailing the corporate title of that medal.
This would provide a great way to award individuals for valor in the many wars being fought throughout the Eve Universe!
Any other ideas, people?

Although I like the general idea I think this is best handled internally by the corp/alliance.
Otherwise I can see some people 'awarding' themselves lots of medals just for fun, rendering that feature pretty much meaning- and useless.

That's what I mean. Only Corporate "Managers" would have rights to assign medals (as well as define medal titles, etc) to corp members.
As to Alliance... There currently is no interface via the Alliance management windows to modify details of the pilots of their member corps. The easiest way to get new functionality adopted is to "piggy back" it as much as possible on existing functionality/screens.
The other thing is that there are alot of corps out there that are not members of an alliance. Making the "Medals of Service" functionality work at a Corporate level would provide the best coverage of benefits to the EVE player base. If an Alliance wants to co-ordinate a couple of key medals as "Alliance Medals" then they can co-ordinate this between their members corps.
