Hi folks,
I've noticed someone mentioning on the sales forums the "upcomming" advanced labs. Is that true? If so do we have any idea of how different they will be from the standards pos labs?

It is true, I believe it was mentioned in a dev blog.

iirc the last post I saw - I believe the current liklihood is: 3 x Copy; 2 x ME; 2 x Invention - latter two normal, first with a 0.65 modifier. 20% increase in CPU/Power over normal.

Edited by: Fenlaw on 24/08/2007 07:48:52 It is mentioned in the DevBlog called more stuff happening in revelations 2.2 and 3.0
"An upgraded version of the Mobile Laboratory will be available offering 3 copy (0.65 time modifier), 2 ME (0.75 modifier), and 2 Invention slots (0.5 time modifier). Operation will require 20% more power and CPU from your starbase. Base cost of the Advanced Lab will be 150 million ISK."
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the initial information about the Advanced Mobile Laboratory offer 6 copy slots?

This is from the original announcement:
Quote: New Advanced Mobile Laboratory. An upgraded version of the Mobile Laboratory will be available offering 6 copy, 5 ME, 3 TP and 4 Invention slots. Operation will require 20% more power and CPU from your starbase and the time bonus will be 10% less than the Basic Mobile Laboratory. Base cost of the Advanced Lab will be 150 million ISK.
Awesome and I'm not surprised they've been downgraded.

So when they where first announced they said 6 copy slots right?

Yup they've been nerfed from the original concept.
In fact I'd say more "chopped off at the knees" rather than just nerfed.
I was looking forward to them as well.

Yeah, they have been changed from Advanced to inferior labs, keeping the higher requirements, but losing most of the slots of a basic lab.
Basic lab gets 3/3/1/5 slots, while "Advanced" lab gets 2/0/3/2 slots, all for the discounted price of 60 million isk more, and 20% more fuel cost.
I say they remove the extra cost/fitting/fuel, and just call it a copy lab. Having 5 less slots is enough of a nerf.

I know that a lot of you have requested information about Copy slots, and quite rightly. I mailed this request to the Tribal Elders of the Minmatar Tribes some time ago, and am yet to get a response.
The Tribe Elders, Minmatar Tribes
I am requesting, on behalf of my corporation and the Minmatar People, an advancement in the technologies available to owner-operators of Player-owned Structures. I will begin by outlining what appears to be disabled functionality, and conclude with my request.
When managing Mobile Laboratory slots there are a number of options available:
1. Adding a cost to the slot 2. Making the slot available to: 1. Alliance Members 2. Corporation Members 3. Public (player) characters 3. Restricting use by standing (or adding penalties)
However, once a manager has determined what of the above options they wish to utilise, the manager is faced with the following, disconcerting, reality:
1. Adding a cost to the slot takes money from a Divisional Wallet and hands it over to the Master Wallet, this includes Master Wallet paying itself for the job. 2. Making slots available to certain groups of people DOES NOT allow those people to put jobs into the PoS from their own hangar (here trust of corp members is severely tested). 3. Opening up slots to the public and adding fees/penalties is useless because the public can't use PoS Labs (see item 2).
What we are requesting is that the following be implemented for the benefit of all Minmatar Corporations:
1. Adding Cost to a slot allows you to select the Division to which payments will be made. 2. Making a slot available to a group of people allows that group to insert a job from their own hangar, just like using an NPC station slot would do. This request may be far more difficult than the first to impliment, but it we believe that it is a fair and reasonable request, especially on the corporate and public levels.
I would like to thank you for your time in considering this request, and look forward to future discussion on this matter.

At least they greatly increased the copy speed when they nerfed the number of slots, and made the ME slots the same as the normal labs, as opposed to less slots AND slower.
I think they feared the effect of a 6 copy slot lab on BPC prices. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
