So it's the spouses birthday. The in-laws are in town. The better half insists I go with, to the store. I dock my Raven and board the sedan, leaving the game running. Off we go, leaving the in-laws to mind the house.
30 minutes later we return. "Strange" I think, my Eve windows have been moved around. Untill I sit down and start reading the new Eve mails I have. My stomach lurches. My fater-inlaw has undocked and self destructed my Raven followed by my pod. Then to add to the pain, he found the marketplace and spent 106 million of the 130 million I had.
Leason learned, shoot in-laws on sight and ALWAYS lock the PC when you leave.
Back to lvl 3 missions to gather funds to replace the Raven and my implants.

If it happens again - quickly edit your alts post to say something like
"hah you r noob"
Then post immedialty after with your main asking your alt to stop trolling
This avoids embarrasing 'alt' outing like we see in this thread.

why would somebody use your computer, pick up eve then proceed to both self-destruct your ship and your pod?
and if you were running level 4 missions why on earth did you only have 130million? I've tagged along on a level 4 and had 10 million isk, from doing nothing but a little salvaging in my condor (I never even got most of the bounties as I was in a different pocket), at the end of it.
I could be nice and say 'oh man that sicks' or I could be honest and say this post sounds like a vieled beg.

we were only in the mission (angels something) for a little while, made more money off one NPC than most high quality level 1's give in LP, bounties, loot, salvage and reward! I was pretty astonished...
Either way, the cost of a raven is minimal in comparison to the payouts of a level 4, a few hours of that isk madness and... god what do you spend your isk on :P? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -8<- - - - - - - Stab some scissors into the screen and cut me out.

Here is how a fictional conversation with my fictional FIL William, whom I always called "sir", except after a few bourbons, when I would sometimes call him "William, Sir", would go after an event like this:
"Bill? Do you mind if I call you Bill? What you got into there... it's not so much a game, what with save points and all. It's more like a hobby. Sort of like that bilge bucket you've been restoring in your garage the past seventeen years." "It's a 1948 Wenaumet Kitten." "Whatever. What if I came in and made a few adjustments with my sawzall, just to see how they'd look? Woah! I've got ya, Bill, don't get faint on me. Yeah. I think you get my drift. "But hey! It's all good! I screw up sometimes myself, and I don't like to have it lorded over me. I learn from it, and I go on being friends with whoever suffered from my screwup." At this point I apply a hearty slap to Bill's back. "We're still friends, right, Bill? Hey, know what? I'm hungry. Let's eat." Then, after he's seated at the table but before he's been served, I'd call the wife out back for... you know. TANSTAAFL |

Sorry, had to go to the hot springs pool with the family. Yea even I can't figure out why he'd self destruct, twice! Even for fun. Searched my purchase logs and he somehow managed to actually buy a Raven 20 jumps away for 91m and a few more purchases for 1.2m each but damned if I can figure out what those are. Now if I had just remembered to renew my insurance since reactivating!
I set my computer to lock on 5 mins inactivity now. This one only took one time to teach this leason. And I thought he liked me to. I'm thinking after all these years with his wife he finally just snapped and some of his neural pathways lead to dead ends.
As to being poor, I only recently reactivated Eve and was far from rich when I left. All the recent patches and expansions sucked me back in.
This isn't a beg for isk, I have a fully fitted Drake I can fall back on just fine, I'll recover. I tried to explain things to my wife and got that blank "and" look. She doesn't play so I came here with my story to share it with like minded souls.

Well, I personnally have a whole different view of what transpired.
This is simply a case of your father-in-law sending you a message. You say you recently returned to Eve. Great!!! Bet the wife was less thrilled though. Wifey complains to daddy. Daddy says "No worries pumpkin, I will have a discussion with him when we come to visit."
So... your father-in-law arrives and you are sitting there playing Eve. Indignate he thinks to himself that more drastic measures may be required. Suddenly the idea of destroying the man who dared to take his wonderful daughter away springs to his mind. However, (thankfully) there are laws against that. But wait; there is this virtual guy that represents him in the game he plays. Father-in-law says to pumpkin to take you to the store. Obviously she could have gone on her own, but daddy insisted.
Moments after you leave he is banging away at the computer. Clicking like a fiend. Hmm, self-destruct, "wonderful". Joy o joy I can self-destruct again. Hmm, wallet. Ah, market. Balance going down nicely.
Your Father-in-law was giving you the inside scoop of what will happen if he gets another call from pumpkin. But there is a bright side. At least this way you still have assests. Be thankful he did not find the trade window.

Explain it in amount of time lost, for example, suppose you were building a model ship, then your father in law damaged it, causing you to have to spend a month trying to fix the damage he caused.
At least that's how I explained it to my wife when I got gate camped and podded and she wondered why I was so annoyed.
She plays EVE now, so now she fully understands the loss of a fully fitted ferox and a full set of +3 implants back when they cost 25+mil each.

And people wonder why petition queues for reimbursement are so long...

could be worth a petition, just in case. Doubt you will get it but you never know.
I suggest you get a few GTCs off him to sell for isk as compensation. ----- CONCORD Notice: Don't drink and fly. Drunken jumping can result in loss of ship through "navigational error".

I did think the same, but the EULA says it's forbidden to give someone your login details, not to let them use your account. ----- J-I-T-A It's a four letter word. |

someone walking up to your computer while you are AFK is not character sharing.
Next time, press the windows key to minimise eve, them windows key and L to lock the screen. ----- CONCORD Notice: Don't drink and fly. Drunken jumping can result in loss of ship through "navigational error".

My guess is that daddy is standing up for his daughter who continually says "married life is fine and dandy, but with this f-ing game "eve" around, I'm NEVER going to get pregnant."
... daddy wants to be a grand-daddy.

I'm sorry, but even I will not accept that as a reason personally.
The make-him-buy-GTC's suggestion sounds reasonable to me.
Of course its a reason, anyone not familiar with MMOs would assume the same thing. I can perfectly imagine my wife doing something like that to me if she ever got her hands on EVE, just to poke some fun at me.
