What your Favorite beer!
I'm not talking about the best beer you had or the most popular beer. I'm talking about the beer you have when you come home after a hards days work or play.
my favorite beer would have to be Rolling Rock. __

I am a sucker for a Brakspear, although I tend to drink more Arkell's, which is also damned fine. Arkell's Kingsdown Special is their best, although 3B is a good enough substitute. --------

I homebrew beers for a hobby. The type I open after a hard day's work don't really have a name, but tastes suspiciously similar to Bass Pale Ale.

The beer I drink when I come home from a hard day's work is Icehouse, because it's cheap but tastes better than most domestic mass brews. The beer I would drink after a hard day's work if I could afford to is Highlands Brewing Company's Gaelic Ale. At $8 for a six pack, I'd go bankrupt if I drank it all the time.

For me it has to be Banana Bread Ale, yup, you guessed it, it's got a taste of bananas. I drink many different ales though as I like a mix, like Black Sheep, Spitfire and Waggledance.

Edited by: d''hofren on 26/08/2007 13:16:42 I ma lucky enough to have a real ale pub just the other side of the common, (looks at sunday papers, looks at sunny weather.... hmm pint while reading the papers, superb....)
Recent faves have been:
The Reverend James - Dark and satisfying this one, very rich and probably one of those three pints on a friday evening while talking to friends pints.
Fuller summer ale - yep, one of those light summer specials, but I can drink this one like water, (and do :-/), hoppy and lights, quite weak at 3.9% with a lower SG as well. *****ing pint and a great alternative to the usual summer IPA's
Black sheep - nice but sells out stunningly quickly so I haven't really formed an opinion yet.
Micia - strange that, I had best results with pales and lights, could never get a decent porter or stout made so kind of lost interest...

Theres a Fuller pub near here, and that is a good pint. If you get a chance, try the Arkell's Summer Ale (their seasonal). Personally I think it's got the edge. --------

Of the "common" beers (the ones you can get regularly in pubs) I have to say my favourite beers is either Pedigree or Guinness, or the House Ale.
For bottled beers I like Grotsch or whatever its called. Delicious!
Ale > Lager, either way.

dude, if I want to be drunk, a bottle of rum is more cost-effective than 2 6-packs.
only thing I can see beer good for is to ****, but I can get even cheaper and tastier stuff.
so all in all: it tastes bad, imho, it is not good enough to get wasted, and there are better things to fill up your bladder with.

Race Rocks amber ale, from Island Breweries, here on Vancouver Island. Honestly, never had anything quite like it.
Although, I had a stout beer brewed in-house at a pub once called "The Backhand of God" that was quite good as well.

yup, since i have been in Europe, this is the best beer to have around the house. i can't believe how bad the mass produced swiss beer actually is.

Aye, have been a fan of Budweiser Budvar for nearly 2 decades now. Failed to be put off it despite taking a swig from a bottle and discovering a drowned Czech fly lying on my tongue (very glad they changed the bottles from dark brown to green though ).
King Cobra is nice too, though mainly because it comes in a 75cl bottle and is 8% alcohol. This has the distinct advantage of allowing me to play eve without having to keep making trips back to the fridge. Also, the bottle has a cork, which just appeals to the child in me.

I have grown attached to Yuengling since I moved here to Pennsylvania. Not my favorite beer, but good full body lager that isnt to expensive and goes down pretty nice.
If I wanted my favorite beer, I would have to move to Austrailia. Man I dont know how you aussies get anything done down there with beer that ******* good!

Now for a serious person to give his opinion.....
I'm belgian, lover of the best beers in the world... just look them up :)
What I drink most, relax in the couch at home: Duvel What we drink after a nice trip on the mountainbike: Leffe (brown)
Other good ones... Kwak, Affligem (elected best beer of the world few years back) and the best of all, West-Vleteren 12¦, just look it up.. it still ranks number 1 currently.
The one mentioning Heineken & Carlsberg above should be shot at sundawn let alone who mentioned Bud (no offense, but those are no beers, it's what comes out after drinking too much real beer ) -----------------------------------------------

I'm told by a number of sources that the Belgians do have some of the best beers in the world. I haven't been able to check it out though. The Germans have some good beers from what I remember tasting at the Oktoberfest a few years ago.
My favourites are a bit of a tie, depending on what pub I'm in. They are:
Greene King IPA Fullers London Pride Youngs Bitter Hook Norton Best Bitter (my fave. Hooky Best = WIN! But only a couple of pubs in Oxford sell it and it goes quickly)
I'm mostly a bitter and pale ale man myself. It's my legacy from living up North for a decade. Anybody who likes a Budweiser is a goddam moron. The reason those beers are served cold isn't for refreshment, it's to kill the taste of cat's **** by freezing your taste buds you cretins. |

Yeungling is a great old Pennsylvania beer.
It's about as close to Americans can get to a real lager, and it's not bad.
It's affordable if ya live in PA, and it takes a hell of a lot better than soapy water - erm, I mean Budweiser.
