Patch Notes rebuttal: "When a ship with deployed drones/fighters enters a Starbase force field, the drones/fighters automatically return to the ship". Once again CCP changes the rules to best suit their player-characters. Always swinging the rules to defeat their enemies' strengths. The nerfing of the drones/ fighters on carriers and mother ships play into the ISK sellers and established long term sovereignty holders who have the capital ships and the resource to buy or make multiple carriers. Newcomers to 0.0 space have no reason to deploy a POS in a defensive position ever again to defend their honest hard-work mining operations. After this nerfing, all the new alliances and corps to 0.0 space can do is warp their carrier to the POS as they watch there miners and fleet die at the hands of a greater fleet. To engage your fighters and stay in fight with your carrier will only be a trap, for the great older and rich alliance will wait to fighters are deployed from the new smaller corps/alliance before jumping in their 15 carriers and 10 dreadnaughts. Allowing only established alliances to have total victory each time. Players will no longer benefit from their hard work or long hours of mining or missioning. Nothing is like deploying that first carrier, the pride and joy after putting in all that hard work. It was the team work that brought you together and held you together. Now, after the patch, you will have to have 10 carriers and 10 dreadnaughts or you face losses at the hands of the established alliances and the ISK vendors. No longer will you be able to just run with your carrier and rebuild what you lost. Instead you will suffer total loss of your man hours of hard work. There is no reason for this nerfing except for CCP and friends' player-characters benefit, unless CCP makes it cheaper or easier to attain carriers and mother ships for new comers to the game. This is not only an attack on the average player but a play into ISK vendors everywhere. If CCP is really against ISK venders or just for getting the carrier into more combat, this is *not* the correct move for this game. This move ensures ISK venders' continuous exploits and the death of carriers for new comers who donÆt join big alliances or established corporations. This post is a petition for all players. Here, in this forum, you should register and state your opinions against or for this patch. Band with me and continue to petition CCP to stop the Nerfing the carrier!

Don't see a problem with it. Why on earth would you need a carrier to cover a mining op anyway, doing that kind of thing will certainly draw attention to you that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Build up you're own cap fleet and don't be afraid to use them. They are ships at the end of the day and can be replaced and certainly aren't meant to gather dust within the perma safety of a pos.

I don't quite understand your point. For one thing, drones have not been able to be used in forcefields since at least rev 2. As i understand it this patch simply makes them return rather than just losing control as before.
Even assuming you were referring to that, i really don't see your point. One carrier worth of fighters isn't gonna make a difference to "15 carriers and 10 dreadnoughts" so why does it matter if you can sit in a pos shield or not.
I really like the change, carriers were always meant to be front line ships and they are most fun when used this way, all this assures is that we won't be the only ones doing so now

And what happeneds to your carrier if opponent got 1 t1 fited celestis ? Something must be done at this point, because carriers are too easy to be turned off. ---

Edited by: Cash Warbash on 26/08/2007 12:44:40 Thanks for the input, no reason to be rude, IÆm just expressing my view. The carrier nerf is a continued assault on the new comer and will allow greater success to established 0.0 empires over new comers. I figured establish empires- like above answers wouldnÆt have a problem with it. After year of enjoying the safety of the POS shield and building their empires

Then you counter that by a unfitted shuttle, delegate fighters to it and pop the celestis. Shuttles do not tank very well, but neither does a celestis.

Yeah considering pretty much anything in your fleet will have a better locking time you rarely use your own fighters. Even a BS would be better then manually using them most of the time. -----------------------------------------------

Soo whats the point of fielding it ? Remote repping ? Don't make me laught its not possible in current lag and desync. ---

Edited by: Tintifish on 26/08/2007 18:03:56 Used a lot in small, like 20 man gang battles, jump some bait in, then cyno a few carriers in on top of them. Sure, in real fleets that are enough to cause lag it serves little purpose using it at the front line.

Until today, you have been able to delegate the fighters THEN proceed into a forcefield and you have been perfectly safe, and the fighters have been perfectly usable. You just could not re-delegate them from inside. Now that option will be removed also, as will cyno generation inside a POS.
The only thing that makes the fighters lose control is you jumping out of system / docking / logging or cloaking. Entering a POS shield before today, had no effect, after today it will make them return.
The change that was in Rev 2 I believe was that they couldn't be told to attack structures then have the carrier / assigning vessel leave. (To prevent exploits where the POS wouldn't shoot the fighters (automatically) but they would still damage the mods etc.

If someone drops 15 carriers and 10 dreads on a Mining op, it's kinda dead regardless. . . The only thing that will save anything there is slow locktimes by the cap blob.
If anything, this also hurts the established alliances with carrier fleets, who can't delegate them to a camp and then just sit the carriers safe behind a POS shield.
And can't your hypothetical young alliance set up a POS, keep its ships aligned to said POS and when BoB/MC/RA/Goons/whoever the hell you're fighting today pops a cyno warp to the POS bubble and then a deepsafe? Even barges can warp between a well established set of safes within the ~30 seconds it takes for a covops to both probe you out and then warp to you.
I just don't see how this nerfs BoB/MC/RA/Goon/etc. less than it nerfs you. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

I disagree that this does anything to hurt newer people any more than established ones. What it does do is force your Carrier to be at risk at all times if it is going to help at all.
I had thought that having 400 million isk in Fighters out fighting, and not being able to see the damage that they were taking, was enough of a penalty for using Carriers. Apparently, I now need to risk the entire 3 bill ship as well.
Nice job, CCP! And I see you increased the signature radius as well....gee, why don't you make carriers even more easy to dampen? Then I won't have to worry about trying to use it anymore at all - cuz when a T1 Frigate can shut down a 3 bill isk ship there is no point in flying the 3 bill isk ship.

Thank you Princesses Jodi, Finally a real person answers this posting instead of some hack. You are right Princes Jodi. However the advantage to the established empire of 0.0 are, more capital ships and more safe zones. New comerÆs risk 100% of there fleet, veterans empires will only make combat plans which will be based on drawing new comerÆs carriers out from their POS. giving them false sense of security. Once the carrier is out of and away from the POS, like Princesses Jodi said ôa Merlin can lock it downö and than comes the real fleet. Although I know established empires are board of the POS wars (Carriers behind force field) this nerf will turn the Carrier into nothing but a freighter for small alliances and corps. However IÆm sure the established 0.0 empires will love their capital ships wars, but in the end the POS will still be standing and therefore the POS wars will continueà
Also Jurgen we enjoy a peace with all 0.0 empires. Established empires in 0.0 risks are negligible in compares to the small workers who just dream of their first carrier, this nerf makes new comers risk their whole future on that one ship, after years of working towards a carrier. This is not a post stabbing at established empires; instead itÆs a stab at the nerf- which true intentions will never be realized- hence POS wars will continue

The established players with consolidated assets in 0.0 will always have huge advantages. Small taking on big will never be a fair fight. That's life in eve, people who have been around a while amassing resources and power do not tend to sit on their laurels, they go for more resources and power (or fend off people trying to take theirs), particularly in 0.0. And yes, they've gotten rather adept at setting traps, supercapitals in particular have forced this.
I think Jodi is referring to the Maulus with 3 RSD IIs getting carriers to about 0 scan res. . . and 25km lock range. Frigate V and Sensor Suppression IV aren't too hard to get. My money is definitely on RSDs as the next thing getting the nerfbat.
Also, don't flame the people who answer your thread (us 'hacks'), they keep your thread on page 1 rather than page 21. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
