To see your dreams crushed, to see your allies driven before you, to hear the lamentations of your women; or to watch Battlefield: Earth?
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

I would'nt call it a movie.. in all honesty I've seen worse movies.. but the whole scientology sponsor thing, Ron Hubbard writing the script and the extreme poor acting by a usually very good actor like John T. Simply makes it unbearably to watch.

It was meh. Its an interesting concept, but it really didn't work as a movie.
To quote the Wiki:
Quote: God above, it's bad. Sweet baby Jesus, it's bad. By all that is holy and sacred on the Earth, this is a bad, bad, bad film.

I loved it ;/ but I think I loved it simply because it was a sci fi movie that everyone else thinks is horrible...

Definitely having your dreams crushed. I get to hear the lamentation of women all day. I just lock myself in my room.

Nah, having your dreams crushed isn't so bad. It liberates you to the truth: that life is futile. You are then free to let go of all that futile humanity and fill the void with an intense hatred for everything. You then lie awake at night fantasising about the day that demons or aliens arrive to bring humanity under a new reign of terror.
...Well...yeah maybe you're right.

Edited by: 7shining7one7 on 26/08/2007 20:53:39 Living your life in ignorance, and waking up realizing the truth. Granted it will be a good thing in the end. But a rude awakening on so many levels that makes it hard to put into words.
that.. and seing your dreams crushed i would imagine.

But a rude awakening on so many levels that it makes it hard to put into words. And along the way to the end/new beginning wishing at some points you could return to the "dream" that was your life in ignorance, but due to what you know being unable to. Watching the movie play itself out, and eventhough it has a happy ending, sometimes not enjoying it a whole lot due to various factors.
that.. and seing your dreams crushed i would imagine, which for some might or might not parallel the above, which can lead to an induced state of delusional hatred, before the new beginning arrives and such hatred is cleansed.
Ignorance is bliss. A person with low aspirations will be happier than a person with higher aspirations. You can be ignorant and happy easier than you can be ambitious and happy. The most ambitious people are also the most dissatisfied with their lives; especially if their ambitions (dreams) are crushed. But an ignorant person is essentially happy living on an instinctual level (eating, sleeping and humping without a thought for tomorrow).

Sad but true. I both envy and revile the little people.

Battlefield: Earth was an excellent book. That weighed in at 1100 pages or so. And covered two to three years of time in deep detail. There was no way in hell they were making that into a 2 hour movie. That'd be like cutting Shogun down to 3 hours of footage.
Travolta bit off more than he could chew, and he did it in the name of his savior. Big mistake career-wise. Also, anyone else find it funny that someone can take Scientology seriously when it was founded by a science fiction writer?

Not sure what all the whine is about, it's a poor production but it's still bearable compared to the chamber dramas, with people in uptight clothing speaking in uptight accents about nothing in perticular for hours on end.
