can any tell me if you can anchor a pos at a moon that someone has anchored cans at? or do they get moved

if i know correct you cant anchor pos while cans around but you can petition and cans will be removed by GMs

No GMs wont remove cans, I had a very very long argument with one GM about this.

You might be lucky.
I recently anchoured a POS at a moon where there was a can. The POS will deploy at the centre of the grid and this is often well away from the warp-in point of the moon.

they have in the past, file it under under exploit petition
but in 0.0/low sec it's not a real issue, last time I had one in the way we ganked it before the gm responded

Yeah I did that, said it all....and the GM still responded with "nope", and when I asked for it to be elevated to a senior GM he said that it would take several weeks for the senior GM to get back to me...on an exploit petition.
Guess it all depends on what GM you get.

Towers need up to 50km distance away from everything else in order to anchor. (if I remember the numbers right) If you're in low/null sec there's the option of grabbing cheap, close-in weaponry (and drones) and grabbing a book. (don't forget to glance at Local now and again) If you're in high-sec, you're stuck with asking the owner to come get the blasted thing.
Happily, from what I have encountered so far, the center of the grid can be 100km (or more) away from the warp-in point. If this is the case with your chosen moon, go ahead and set up, then practice using your POS turrets.
