Since the "what do you do" thread is running nicely I thought I'd try this:
What do you EAT?
I'm talking meals, not snax. What is your absolute favourite meal? The one that fills your tastebuds and gives you the best satisfaction?? Either a single course, or a full dinner.
GIVE IT TO ME!
I would choose one of the following:
A subtle fish dish, scallops or langoustines followed by a perfectlt cooked steak with a glass of red wine (some excellent shiraz)
or a gorgeous sushi assortment.
what does the community crave for dinner?!?!?

Steak and fries with a good pepper sauce is very nice. Im not much of a fish person, which is kind of a shame, because fish has lots of Omega 3.

Indeed, I melt for a good Filet Pure or entrec(te and a glass of strong red w(h)ine.
Second on the list would be a sellary stew with red or white sausages and red cabbage :)
Fishwise... loup de mer (or seawolf for the rest of the world) or a piece of salmon on the BBQ with a warm vegetable stew.
I won't work anymore today, I can feel it... -----------------------------------------------

sounds excellent! I've never understood though: what makes Angus beef, well, Angus? what kind of trademark is it?
What do you think of this: I started this weekend in the Coopvaert with a duckliver on top of a green pea pate with a croquette stuffed with cheese and panacetta. This was followed by the most awesome Lamb filet with green asparagus and vanilla mashed potatoes, accompanied by a bottle of Bandol (if you dont know it, go rent 'a good year'). finished with an extraordinary cheese platter with figs, honey, nutbread and more bandol (which really is a killer btw)

When I used to do ROTC, we ran reallllly early in the morning most of the week. Nothing was as rewarding as coming in from an hour of workout and a 3 mile run as a hearty breakfast like that in the dining hall, of all places.

You pretty much are. Bacon with maple syrup?! Eggs with cheese?!
In the UK, except on the occasional weekend when I treat myself to a Full English, it's cereal or toast everyday.
Favourite meal...thats a tough one. I love a good stir fry, with egg noodles...fish sauce...maybe chicken...lots of ginger...

Yep the American breakfast is one of the main reasons so many people are overweight in the states. It's just not sensible eating.
Most people in the uk have toast & cereal in the morning, maybe a fry up on a sunday.

from a guy who lives in a country where congealed blood is often served with breakfast .
The syrup goes on the toast.. not the bacon . And eggs & cheese are served together in the UK.

sounds excellent! I've never understood though: what makes Angus beef, well, Angus? what kind of trademark is it?
Angus is a breed of cattle. From wiki -
Aberdeen-Angus is the original name of the breed as developed in Scotland, and the term is still in use as such in the United Kingdom. In the United States they are usually referred to simply as Angus or Black Angus. Angus cattle are naturally polled and solid black, although white may appear on the udder. Black Angus are the most popular beef breed of cattle in the United States with 324,266 animals registered in 2005.
In another attempt to promote the consumption of beef from Angus cattle, the American Angus Association set up the "certified Angus Beef" brand in 1978. The goal of this brand is to promote the idea that Angus beef is of higher quality than beef from other breeds of cattle. Cattle that is at least 51% black and exhibit Angus-type characteristics are eligible for "Certified Angus Beef" evaluation. However, it must meet all eight of the following criteria to be labeled "Certified Angus Beef" by USDA Graders: [9]
* Modest or higher degree of marbling * Medium or fine marbling texture * "A" maturity * Yield grade 3.9 or leaner * Moderately thick or thicker muscling * No hump on the neck exceeding 2 inches * No evidence of internal hemorrhages * No dark cutting characteristics
"Angus" beef is often considered to be of higher quality than "ordinary" longhorn or shorthorn beef. It also became quite popular thanks to the chain of Black Angus steakhouses.
Many say that the BEST steak you can currently get is Kobe beef. I just like a nice Filet Mignon myself.

Slow cooked prime rib "Rare of course" from this steakhouse in our town. Expensive, but sooooo dammmmm goooood. The meat practically melts in your mouth, it's slow cooked so you don't get that blacked outside a lot of places have "blah". Dripping with blood and very tender. You don't even need a steak knife to cut it "not that it would be easy without one". ___________

Man, where to start? Simple Italian comfort food. A glass of pilsner, roasted asparagus, aglio e olio, with a cannellini salad. Some gelato to finish, sit out while the night cools smoking pipes and swapping stories.

a bit of maple syrup on bacon never hurt anyone, its quite delicious and french toasts yummy!!! and yes people do put cheese on eggs. (must say i rarely ever eat breakfast)
for lunches a sandwich with crisps/chips/frys,
nothing beats steak and potatoes for dinner. potatoes can be fried, mashed, baked, or any way yummy :D
a good bacon cheeseburger, steak fajitas, tacos, grilled chicken, fried chicken, its all good :D
nothing like a 2500+C diet with little to no activity. restaurant portions are rather large, and full of grease and fats. and several glasses of soda. must say most items i would rather cook myself.

Fried, boiled and grilled you name it. I also eat a lot of cod as it has tons of proteins in it.
I eat some white meat too. Mainly chicken.

ah yes... Kobe beef is surely the best, Kobe cattle have the best lives:
- they eat beer. a lot of beer. - they watch TV all day - they recieve massages every day.
a quote: 'Each animal is pampered like a spoiled child. Their diets are strictly controlled and during the final fattening process, cattle are fed hefty quantities of sake and beer mash. Each animal gets a daily massage. The theory is that mellow, relaxed cows make good beef.'
I had some in Hong Kong once.... omfg that was good.... ----------------------------------------------- "post with your main. delete your alt, you sad little exploiting metagamer." |

Depends on who's cooking. But i really like the Italian kitchen and Japanese kitchen aswell as the swedish cousine.
When i was living with my father this summer he used to make delicious Spaghetti - La Carbonara and he made very very nice steaks aswell, perfect with pepperonata.
Reminds me i'm going to make Pepperonata for my sister and mother today with frenchfries.. Will probably turn out good..
Otherwise and fastfood wise i really like a good hamburger or a good pizza, thin crust of course no panpizzas for me!

They are?! Why have I never seen it? I'm quite the connoisseur of slap up cafe fried breakfasts, on my travels. The thought of putting cheese on your eggs seems down right blasphemous to me
An English fry up, which isn't eaten at all often by most people, is usually fried egg, bacon, sausage, toast and black pudding. Usually some cooked tomatoes and mushrooms too.
And interesting point of note: theres about 10% less fat in black pudding than bacon, and about 5% less than a pork sausage. Tasty too
TBH with you, I wish I could eat Full English breakfast more often, because there is little as tasty as a good fry up. But I, like most people, only eat it once every week or two. Most of the time its cereal or toast.
Personally, I usually have Weetabix for breakfast. Little bit of sugar, sliced up banana on top, or whatever other fruit happens to be lying around. --------

Spaghetti Carbonara. Not what you get in the UK, though. Real Italian Carbonara, without gallons of cream sauce. The sauce shouldn't even be a sauce, it should be a thin coating of the pasta, and it's delish.
Failing that a good donner kebab.
