This could be done quite easily for example :- An amarrian player goes to his agent and is told that "they have intel of a minmatar agent that will be going to destory an amarrian hauler convoy at (X) location when the haulers reach it at (Y)time and you are sent to stop him. At the same time a minmatar player is given a mission to destory that hauler convoy at (X) and (Y) time and told that they believe an amarr agent will be sent to intercept and protect the fleet." This would make missions more fun, add to the faction warfare and ease new players into PVP.
Anyone else like this idea? There are many missions i can think of doing so im sure CCP could come up with plenty of good ones too :) ===============================================

I like the idea,
What if the Minni pilots ship breaks down on the way to the mission, does the Amarr pilot have to sit and twiddle thumbs, or would they win by default.

Most Minmatar pilots carry extra rolls of duct-tape in the cargo hold. A break down on he way to a mission might delay a a minnie ship by only a few minutes at most.

Or have a mission that has you go out and kill X ships in Y system

Originally by: Alski It depends how much CCP learn from past user interface mistakes, i'm sure they'll do very well, but if not i'll be right clicking on random people and selecting "Orbit at 0.5m"

"Wonderful idea" as long as the Amarr player isn't a 4 years old veteran with a faction BS tath get to kill a 3 month old player in a BC he can barely use.

If those missions are offered by new agents, fine. If they interfere with standard missions, not fine.

i hope someday they introduce something like that. it could be easily tied to standings. for example, if i have been working for caldari navy for 2 years, i will have probably killed many gallente and minmatar convoyes. so someone that has been working for gallente federation could get a mission asking him to come and kill me (and give him 24 hours kill rights or something like that).
if CCP wants to really push the things, when faction warfare comes, they could allow corps or aliance to align with NPC factions, and get taxes discounts on those factions empires for example, but at the same time, be elegible for pvp missions against enemies faction aligned corps, both offensive and defensive.
it is something that i hope CCP looks at

Perhaps lvl 6 missions could incorporate this idea. They could be 'gang only' type missions which would address the problems of veterans wiping the floor with new players. This could easily tie-in with Factional warfare and perhaps certain systems would be designated as 'Mission PvP only zones'. These would be where the lvl 6 agents are located. Perhaps high sec only places where pirates could not easily gank the mission runners. Just a thought. That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Sounds to me very hard to implement as missions. You somehow have to manage that both parties are able to get to the target location at the same time. Which more or less means you need to create hubs in which both parties hand out their missons? But the first thing that probably happens then is that people start to lock down systems and more or less we're going to leave the idea of mission running then. From my experience in other games it already hard for humans to coordinate 2 different factions into one storyline to do something with each other at some point. I wouldn't know how you could automate this without making it exploitable in various ways. The best and easiest thing you can do is static areas to fight over, but then again this is not much different from plexes. ---------------------------------- Be cool, be important, colorize!!! |

Some ideas I put in another soo to be deleted thread:
Create a scenario where if you run you lose. Say capture / defense of a base, if you accept the mission then you have to fight or your mission will fail. Two problems with this are one side turns up with a blob and that the limited time frame means a lot of ships passing in the night.
Off the top of my head I would add NPC ships to the system / area to balance out each side. If I turn up in a cruiser on my own and the other faction bring 30 BS then have NPC faction ships / emplacements spawn to support me. As more of my faction players turn up despawn some so we have something remotely like an even and fun battle. To deal with the timing issue have it spread over days. Tally up things like ships killed / lost weighted so it doesn’t become an NPC barrel shoot. Measure mid battle goals, gun emplacements repaired, supplies brought in to the station etc. Decide who won and change the map / story arc as appropriate. Add news items for colour and away you go. Add all the glory of fighting for turf and stations but without the POS rubbish. Make victory a matter of fighting and tactics, not about who can put 600 ships in a system and spam two dozen POSs just before downtime.
Another idea I had for faction warfare. Create an item that will swing an event one way or another for the faction that holds it and brings it to the right place at the right time. Spawn it weeks before the event. Every registered faction pilot on any side can trace what system it’s in and with special modules can scan it down in system. Add a few simple effects to the module. If you have it on your ship you can’t dock, enter a POS shield or cloak. If you log out with it in your hold your ship stays in space, permanently. So now we have a target running around being hunted / protected by every interested faction and having to pass the torch to the next pilot time zone to time zone for weeks.
