The Problems:
1)Whenever you deploy sentry drones around 80% of them tend to deploy outside scooping range.
2)When you tell them to return to drone bay they re-approach at around 1m/s and also tend to get stuck on each other in pairs.
This leads to serious headaches.
Please fix sentry drones. Please. For the love of all that's holy.
Pretty Please...with a case of beer on top.

#2 is by design - they're supposed to be stationary. It would be nice if they could move a little, even if it was only just to get back within scooping range (at 50m/s, say). Or perhaps the scoop range for drones could be extended to 2km?
The 'related gripe' applies to most other deployed objects as well - warp disrupt probes are deployed in front of interdictors and can cause them to grind to a halt. Bombs work the same way iirc.
This would be a very useful fix; T2 sentry drones have great DPS potential (to the point that a dominix can outdamage a Tempest when sniping from 150km) but the lack of a reliable means of scooping them makes them a burden and a liability; they're already much more expensive than large turrets, and the datacore cost for inventing them is being raised from 2 to 3. Possibly by design, but becomes a big headache when in a cap ship, and a complete nightmare if you're in a dread, in siege and need to switch to say warrior II's to take out light support.
Warp probes and bombs are stationary, non-intelligent objects. Drones are mobile and semi-intelligent. I somehow doubt their orders when you click launch and engage are "deploy into space, smack your owner about a bit, try and go directly through him if you like, then go shoot the target".

If it is at all possable to code (who knows...) giveing them the ability to move at say 20m/s ONLY when told to return to bay would fix much that is wrong with them (though i still say the short range ones need a tracking boost, and yes i am aware of omni-links - they suck.) but given the troubles we all see with drone AI its probaley impossable. -

Further problem
Your Drones (both sentry and combat) no longer aggro to your defence when you come under attack?
In the latest builds it looks a lot like they don't attack anything unless specifically ordered which means that if they finish the current target they have been given, they do nothing until you re-direct them to a new target.
It also means that deploying drones is no longer of any benefit if you get damped - you can't target anything, so they do nothing.

Two more drone gripes:
1) Sentry Drone drift. Deployed sentries, read forums for a minute, looked back to find that they had all decided to drift out to 2.5km or so. Becomes a problem when they get stuck on each other easily, other people get stuck on them easily, they return at 1m/s etc. As mentioned before, add a dread in siege to the equation and you have a recipe for a broken keyboard.
2) Drone window lag. Been around for a fair while now. Expanding drones in bay/drones in space results in a lag spike. Expanding drones in bay/drones in space in a carrier with several groups and lots of drones results in a slideshow (was in an already laggy system earlier today in a carrier, expanded my drones in bay tab, got powerpointed, then my client stop responding for 5mins till I re-started it \o/) which is fixed by clicking on a celestial object.
