With this latest patch i saw the introduction of a new ship. as i am fairly new i didnt think this happened, obviously i was wrong (not the first time it has happened in this game)
any way, i was wondering if this happens often, for instance in rev III will we be seeing new ships, such as a new bs for amarr or caldari . Or is it a very rare event.

It's not very common that they release ships, but they usually plan some new ships every now and again.
For example, with Revelations they brought in the tier 3 battlecruisers and battleships.
The last batch of new ships before that was with Red Moon Rising, where they brought in a more capital class and T2 ships.
Look up Features for more details.
With the exception of the Rorqual, there's no other new ship planned for Revelations as far as I know, although I'm happy to be proved wrong.

New ships are added every now and again. When the game first came out there was only frigates, cruisers and battleships. Now we have frigates, interceptors, assault frigates, stealth bombers, covert ops, cruisers, HAC's, recons, battlecruisers, command ships, battleships, carriers, dreadnoughts, motherships and titans. Oh and don't forget the mining barges and of course, the brand new Rorqual (or however it's spelt).
There are currently no further plans to add more ships to the game, but you never know.

It even goes further back than that. As I recall, It started off with just Frigs and cruisers, and went from there.
I don't forsee any new ships coming out until about a year from now, at least not in any large quanity. We may though get some more changes, as you can see with the changes to T2 amarr ships.
Oh and just an after thought, Kinda off topic, But I THINK I HEARD (Rumors mostly atm) that the next expansion (not Rev III, I mean the next full one) will include the ability to walk aroun a station.. Yep, full bodied avatars.... But again, take scuttlebutt for what it is

Very uncommon.
The most likely set of ships to be released next would be the T2 battleships, if CCP could find a role for these proposed behemoths.
Either that, or T3 ships once enough people have heat and they can again find a role for them.

Ah,bit disapointed i could see myself in the new "Pigeon" or whatever they would call it. however even if they did release one as im so new it would take me an age to fly it.

Oh, i would just like to ask one more question. its along the same lines.
Are they more likly to realse new drones, as i would love salvaging drones to earn me quick isk.

Salvage drones are on alot of people's great big wish lists along with tractor beams with more range and or just flat out loot drones.
don't see any of that happening .. soon, if ever.

The rorqual can fit capital tractor beams with 200km range, so there's one of your two.
