Hey Guys
Ive recently kitted out my drake for gate camping (i know i know) and would liek some input of the possible performance of it when i do finaly get to use it. Im not bothered about the DPS giving ability atm as this is setup for use in gangs, so i want to be able to take the punishment while my maties give the punishment.
High = 7 HL (Limos) Mid = 2 Large Extender II, 4x Shield Rechrger II Low = 4 Shield Power Relay II
Rigs = 2 core defence field purger I
Will my current skills this gives me around 12750 shield with a recharge rate of about 125 secs, im not sure what the max recharge rate will be, but im told it should take some heavy abuse
Will be greatfull of any input thanx

You're going in the right direction. But drop those shield recharger IIs. Fitting 4 mission-specific active hardeners instead will almost double that tank.

<edit> And woah, I didn't even read your post. lol. I saw your setup and assumed it was for pve . My advice still stands, hardeners are better than rechargers by a long shot.

hmmm
the problem with that is that im not missioning, im told this can tank sentry guns at low sec gates, the problem with hardeners is that if im fitted with the oposite that im bein hit with ill losse out on the recharge DPS and resitance DPS and i think ill be dead in the water.
Any idea what the max recharge rate will be on this set-up

Well apparently it is better to have shield extenders up until about 17000 shield, as it gives you more shield/sec. I would say ditch two of the rechargers, put in another large extender and, maybe an invul field or an EM hardener.

Get AWU L4 and either the -% grid use for extenders gnome implant (cheap) or the +% to ship grid implant (expensive) to help with fiting grid-wise. Get Beta Rector Control SPRs instead of T2 if you have CPU issues. Fit 3 LSE-II and 3 passive resistance amplifiers (em/em/th or em/th/kin, your choice). Get that third purger. Shield operation L5 and Shield management L4 are almost mandatory, same with the other two relevant gnome implants (3% shieldmax and shieldrecharge are dirt cheap, the 5% are a bit on the expensive side). Get the Zainou ZMM implant (launcher RoF), the 3% one is barely affordable, the 5% is too damn expensive and needs L5 cybernetics. Get skills for T2 launchers and use high-damage heavies for decent gank (you're on full passive setup, what do you care), better still get T2 HAMs and use high-damage HAMs (you'll have to sit pretty much ON the gate and nearly max-out your missile range skills). Get at least one BCU, maybe even two if your tank holds ; swap out a passive shield resistance amp with a T2 invul field if you can, CPU-wise, you should be able to run it a long time or even permanently, being the only thing using capacitor on the ship (especially after you have some BCUs instead of some SPRs).

i think i will swap a recharger for an Invul Field II, and get that 3 purger, that should keep the recharge the same while increasing my resistances, ill see how this holds in pvp, if its over kill on the tank ill prob stick some BCU II on, however as soon as i do that ill prob be in a massive battle and be wishing i had a better tank lmao

test server is your friend (at least for the gategun tanking part) as for actual combat... here's no such thing as an "overkill" on tank, all tanks eventually get broken anyway if the enemy has enough ships

Active hardeners should never be used on a passive Drake in PVP. Cap isn't sustainable because of the Shield Power Relays, and god forbid someone NOS/Neut you out of your tank. Passive Resistance Amps are the way to go.
Posted this setup in another thread, but hey. Why not?
No cap was used in the setup (or operation) of this ship :)

thats seems a nice setup, how ever the resistances arnt that high, and the regen peaks no that high either, i doubt this would withstand much punishment,
How do i find out the peak regen of my setup

Easy peasy,
Here is the best passive drake tank I use:
2 x Invuln 2, 3 x LSE2, 1 x Shield recharger 2, 4 x SPR2, 3 x CDFP1
Depending on skills it gives good resists and great regen and shields (I have 3% hardwires as well).
I use it and get approximately 800 average tankable DPS.
Before the screams about cap usage kick off, I leave one invuln off and only switch it on if necessary, the other one will permarun. You only lose 150 DPS with it switched off, frankly if you need the other one you're probably gonna die anyway but both will run for 20 minutes easily.

Edited by: Nama Saya on 29/08/2007 14:03:40 This is my pvp gang setup (not fully passive but you gonna love it!):
7x HL t2 1x NOS/Tractor beam
1x Magnetic scattering amplifier II 1x Heat dissipation amplifier II 1x Warp disruptor II 1x Sensor booster (best named)
3x Shield power relay II 1x Damage Control unit II
rigs: 3x Field core defence purger
Drones: 5x light T2
Works fantastic, tanks the sentry's up to 58% shield remaining :)
