Do you dislike the idea of our fellow players purchasing ISK with real world cash? Although I personally believe that their decision to do so causes very little harm to me I still find it pathetic and contemptible. I have been considering ways to make it less desirable for people to go out and do so. Unfortunately the only thing I could think of was to make it more expensive for ISK farmers to sell their ISK thus forcing them to pass on the added cost to the losers who buy the ISK.
Now we all know that one way to go about making things more expensive is to harass the actual farmers who sell the ISK. This, no doubt, has had some effect on the price.
I just can't help but think there must be another way to drive up their costs and force ISK buyers to pay more.....
On a TOTALLY unrelated note: Did you know that the average bid for a top 6 advertisement position for keywords like "ISK", "Buy ISK", "Buy Eve ISK", Eve ISK" etc. on Google is $0.32 to $0.43 per click? Wow! That means everytime that one of those little ads off to the right is clicked by one of us it costs the people who advertise ISK selling $0.32 to $0.43! Wow! Interesting! If I were to take 20 seconds while sitting in station everyday to go over and just click on those little ads I would end up taking anywhere from $9.60 to $12.90 out of some ISK sellers advertising budget. If a few hundred of us did the same thing that could end up costing the ISK sellers thousands! Man! Glad this is just an academic, "Did you know.." type thing instead of an actual attempt to start a campaign to drive up the real-world prices for ISK. Good thing!

Am I right when I think that once the ad has been clicked so many times a limit (set by the advertiser) is reached and that particular ad is no longer shown. _______________

By clicking on those links, you expose yourself to keyloggers. Sure, you might drain their RL wallets, but you MIGHT just drain your ingame one too

I really don't want to give these morons more attention than needed, so I simply do not click on their ads. While it does cost them money, it also shows that someone wants their products and they would probably put out even more of these frekkin annoying ads, luring in even more weak souls, negating any effect your clicking might have...

Yes, there are limits set by the advertiser. The whole point of the targeted ads is to draw clicks from people who want their product. A group of people who specifically do not want their product chewing up their budget would force them to raise their budget to get the same sales from clicks.
You may indeed be right about the unintended consequences. tbh I don't know but I'm fairly certain that Google wouldn't tolerate ads that somehow lead you into a key logging situation. Then again I'm not particularly savy when it comes to that sort of thing.

The site carrying the add gets the money from the clicks Simply overclicking the add would endorse that sites decision to place that ad and re-enforce the smart choice that its racking up the payout for every click. Why stop at 1 ad that gets massivly clicked when you can put up 2 or 3 or 4 and make more profits. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Not talking about GTC at all.
Also not talking about directed ads on other web sites. I was refering to ads on Google itself. Although the directed ads on other web sites also cost the advertiser (the ISK seller in this hypothetical situation) money.

Edited by: Falbala on 29/08/2007 19:39:52 I am upset with them because I cannot open a public channel, wether it is help, french language or trade without getting spam from zidheazhduioazhdh or okhoykhiyj about buying isk. This is very annoying and I want it to stop.
If we must have those channels fully moderated to get rid of them then i vote yes.

Too bad I can't endorse that sort of action seeing as how this was all hypothetical and not at all a call to arms or anything.....but if it had been I would absolutely laud your spirit!

If there was a mass clicking ISK add campaign it would result in the adds being pulled as they would think the owner of the website had friends or macros clicking to earn his website money. Plus the key logger things not to unrealistic either.

All that really needs to happen is when we the players who report the Spammers to GM's, the GM's then set up an account to buy the ISK from whoever. When the 'real' account goes to transfer the cash to the GM's account sting.. THAT account is banned.
Squishing the disposable alt's is nothing, CCP has to terminate the source. As an example I petitioned 15 players each advertising the same site.
Dumping disposable alt's in trial accounts won't do anything, ban the accounts that have paid subscriptions, and are capable to transfer ISK. That's a start in costing the Spammers/gold farmers added hassle and RL cash to harass the playerbase. ------< Official Sig demarkation line >--------
