I know people always say hypes are not for sniping. suppose I wanted to make one, what would be the best setup??

meh, stuff the mids with sensor boosters and tracking comps (prolly 2x sensor, 3x tracking - havent played with a hype yet so not sure)
then 2-3 magstabs in the lows and whatever tanking mods you're into (with the repper bonus i'd prolly do a dual repper setup)

try this
highs: 8x 425mm
mids: mwd + 2x sensor booster + 2x tracking comps
lows: large rep + 2x tracking enhancer + 3x magstab

yeah, this works good..rigs should be trimark pumps to give u some buffer if u get tackled..

that will need at least 2 ancilalry current routers to fit, pg on hype is only slightly more than on megathron, and teh megat can fit a plate and 100mn mwd because of needing only 7 guns worth of powergrid

I would use a sentry dom before resorting to sniping with a hyperion, it's like it was specificaly desyned not to be used at long range, try a rohk for an 8 gun rail ship

A hyperion has a potential to deal 25% more damage than a rokh and since it will require more tracking mods to get a decent optimal it will track better. Of course rokh extreme range can give an advantage in some situations.

yeah, u are right. dropping that LAR and fitting MAR should be better. If u are tackled in fleet in sniper, u are dead, that MAR is there just in case u have really big luck escaping enemy snipers and tacklers..
